Our AC puts out incredibly cold air so when it runs longer then normal to cool the house for sleeping, the steady stream of cold air gets to be uncomfortable way to early in the evening.
I set our prior Hunter thermostat to 10:30 for sleeping cool down for last 24 years so I did the same for this one but with different results in cooling mode. Not tried heat yet.
Honeywell calls this anticipation "smart response" by calculating how long it takes for your AC/heat unit to attain the temperature you set for bed time or in the morning for heat. Example, sleep selected to 75F and set for10:30 to start cooling. Instead it started cooling around 9:30. Frustrated, I rest it and reset it, even reset thermostat to new but got same results every time, early cooling.
It finally hit me, this is what the Hunter thermostat did, but only for heat, not cooling. It's an anticipating feature is doing it. I checked the list of thermostat functions and there it was, "Smart Response".

- wildcatgoalSeems to be working just fineSeems to be working fine with my heat pump with electric backup. Menu for set up is a little "cryptic" but the instructions help. You really have to know your system's setup in order to get the settings right -- it's not a system that'll "sense" what's there like a Nest sometimes can. But once set up, works fine. It will automatically adjust to HEAT or COOL to maintain a specific temp, but that setting is named something that makes no sense and it should just show HEAT and COOL on the screen in that setting.

The refurbished product says 1 battery, the new product says 2 batteries, it is 3 batteries so false advertising but if they only have to be changed about once a year, that's not bad. - Betty Biceaccurate temp controlEasy install accurate temp settings easy to adjust easy to read I really like this thermostat perhaps the best in it's price range. I have only had it for a few days so I cannot vouch for how long it will actually last but it is All electronic no moving parts so I expect it to last several years.

I trusted that this product would work and was trying to save money, ended up biting me in rear. Past return window. $50 wasted
