- June BarfieldBest we've used so farWe did a lot of research on these alarms prior to purchasing them because of previous purchases leaving so much to be desired. The alarm and lights function is one of the best features since we have it set to automatically go off when we are away. It's a great deterrent for our unoccupied rental properties. Another feature that we did not know was included was the solar power charging efficiency charts that you can monitor daily. We love that The solar panels only need 2 hours of sunlight which is achieved even on cloudy days to be effective. The only thing that would make the solar power better is if there was a panel on a hinge that you can unfold after setup to manipulate the position for optimal sunlight capture. The night time color display is so much better than the typical black and white view that we've had on our previous cameras. The zoom in feature is not pixelated or distorted so this is awesome as well. Overall this is the best camera system we have owned yet and the only modifications to improve the system would be a hinged unfolding solar panel and also the distance from the camera to pick up further away. An added bonus feature would be if the camera would whistle or cockadoodledoo or make some kind of sound that encourages the intruder to look up followed by a recording that says you are now being recorded. Almost all the camera systems on the market do not have this built-in feature making it hard to get intruders to actually look up at the camera system so the police can identify who they are.
- onel garciaGreat camera! This is my second Eufy s230 camera, they work as advertised....... great picture quality. i hang my cameras high so the fact that they are solar means I don't have to climb a ladder to take out the battery and charge them.... very happy with Eufy cameras. Also, there is no monthly charge unlike Ring which charges 50 dollars per device annually.
- Marlon AllenTaking in Water, and has completely stopped working. Poor Support!!!!Sadly the camera had worked well, but then I noticed it stopped charging. When I took the camera down to charge manually I noticed the font of the camera was entirely filled with water. I contacted there support who basically told me that although I've owned it under a year, there's nothing they can do for me. They offered me a small discount to by another, but even that discount was so minimal it's actually cheaper to buy another camera outright. So Net, it would actually cost me more to replace with discount than it would if I purchased outright. When I brought that to my attention, they said there's nothing they could do. So no only do I have a defective camera that I can no longer use due to complete failure, I can't even get it replaced at a cost that makes any sense. Mind you you should not have to purchase a new device with obvious defect in less than 1 year. You'll notice the water is rusty and black mole, which means it's been gathering for a significant period of time.
- Algreat camerasI used several of these cameras on a house that we renovated. I set them up for security reasons as the house that they were mounted to is a large 8 bedroom home that is a seasonal rental. I see everything with these. They recharge with the sunlight and are a snap to setup. They alert me when someone comes into the field of vision (which can be modified) and records their activity. I like that no other equipment or subscription is needed. They hook up to the WI-Fi of the home and are easy to program and setup. I see all activity and I live 50 miles away from the site. I can at any time have a live look at any camera (I put 6 on this house.
- MikeFWon't last more than a couple years in strong sunshineThese cameras need to be place in an area with good sunshine for a 4 to 8 hours a day because of the small solar cell if you want the battery to stay charged in the optimal surveillance setting. However they won't last more than 2 years with a lot of sun exposure, the batteries will degrade significantly, and the camera can easily overheat and stop working when temperatures are over 100 degrees, which can't be good for it. Also 2K video quality is okay but 4K would be better to see zoomed in details like faces. I do like that it has local storage in case the power goes out and works well with the Homebase so even if the camera is removed it's been backed up and the Homebase has an alarm feature.
- RBDClear view!Got 2 of the solar powered renewed security cameras. So far they are great. Fully charged the battery in each one before I put them up. One in the front of the house and one in back. I have the spot light set to come on when motion is detected. The solar panels are keeping the cameras fully charged. So far not a lot of false alarms. There have been a couple but I have the sensitivity set pretty high. We do have several cats in the area that run through my yard a lot. I started with the Eufy door bell cam. Was very satisfied with it so thought I would try these cameras. Would recommend all. Like that there is no monthly fees to pay. Might order one more camera to install at the back of my lot, looking back at the house. I have a wifi extender so it should work.
I would also go with the Amazon renewed if available. That saved me $50 per camera. - DaclaudGood starter camera and easy to integrate onto your phoneThis is a great starter camera. You don't need the Home Base system, but I would recommend that you eventually buy it so you can store the video. It is 4k, so you get pretty good quality video. It's not a good long range camera, but it can make out details if someone is within 8-10 feet (in my experience, your experience may be different). I currently use this for one of my doors, but I would probably upgrade to the S330 or higher if you have the money.
