- Jim SmithHigh build quality, powerful mini tabletAs much as I hate to say it, Apple pretty much knocked it out the park with this generation of iPad Mini. A little background: I have used iPhones since the iPhone 3g (with a brief departure in 2020-2022). I have owned a couple of iPads and iPad Minis, a Samsung Galaxy Tab and several iterations of the Kindle Fire tablets. I am by no means an Apple fanboy, and prefer the Windows ecosystem to Mac. Having said all of that, I cannot help but give this tablet a glowing review.
Lets start with quality: Apple's retooling of the case with this generation was perfection. By eliminating the sloped back around the edges, it made this device more comfortable to hold. Thickness-wise it is comparable to a Fire 7 of the same era, however the flat rather than rounded edges and the extra heft of the metal body make this iPad feel much more substantial.
The retina display provides a crisp and clear picture no matter what applications you are putting it to. The color depth is great and the contrast is incredible, though I would have liked it to have a little more truer depth in the black end of the spectrum. The screen is the current generation of high quality glass at time of manufacture and the durability of the screen is great. I have had mine take a tumble a few times and exit these events unscathed, despite not having a case or screen protector on the iPad Mini.
However, it is the performance that really impresses. Keeping complete control of the product line has allowed Apple to engineer a device with the speed needed for higher end uses, very few crashes/freezes, and a software front end that gives the easiest user experience out there. It is definitely snappier than many other budget tablets on the market.
Interestingly, the iPad Mini's place in the Apple ecosystem is an odd one. As powerful as a full-size iPad/iPad Air, but the Mini costs ... more? One would think that as a "smaller" product it would cost less (less materials), but economies of scale push the price of the Mini above that of the regular iPad or iPad Air. It is a great little device, and depending on what you plan to do with it, I think it is worth it. - Ryan S.No regrets buying “renewed, acceptable condition”The iPad mini arrived well packaged and in better condition than expected! The screen has very minor scratches that are barely visible, and the sides and back are free of scratches and dents. A charger was included and works without any issues. A screen protector was already applied and free of any bubbles. I purchased this in “acceptable condition” and am very satisfied with the quality. Any fingerprints on the back are from handling it after it arrived cold due to the weather. The seller did a fantastic job with packaging and delivering it in perfect condition!

Transferring all of my data from my iPad 10th gen to the iPad mini 6 took about 5 minutes. After setting up the iPad it was a bit slow however as it adjusts to your storage and your time usage it recognizes your patterns. The battery is in good condition. Whenever I am not using the iPad for about maybe 2 days, it stills has about 30%-40% battery left. Charges to full for about an hour. However, I have 2 main concerns. I might have been the unlucky buyer but the back came with what looked like a missing strip of the back material. I thought it was tape so I tried slipping my fingernail underneath but after many tries it wasn’t tape at all. It’s not a big deal for me because I have a keyboard case that hides it. The color: I cannot tell if it is purple or space gray. To MY eyes it looks space gray but on some other lightings it looks like a dark-esque purple, so I’m praying its purple. The quality of the product feels very premium despite the missing material strip. The 256gb storage is MASSIVE, if you like to take photos, download pdfs for school or work, take notes, play heavy performance games, this cute and compact device handles it all. I want this iPad to be my forever device and I can see myself using it for a good 4 years. If you love smaller tablets and its design, I highly recommend it for people with small hands or just love how adorably small it is. I am very grateful for buying this product.

There is one ding on the side, and some scratches on the screen which I only saw when I took the screen protector off to replace it with a matte protector. All of this was to be expected since I bought refurbished. Well worth the money, saved me about 200 to buy refurbished. Came with a charger and charger block which I appreciated, and was wrapped very nicely in bubble wrap. Very happy!
