  • Good app but had same prob as others downloading on to new phone
Good app but had same prob as others downloading on to new phone. I ended up purchasing again and then contacting Amazon Customer Service, who gave me a refund.
  • Wish I had this 50 years ago!
I would have given it five stars but it only works with Spotify, Amazon unlimited won't work.
  • Become a guitar god!
This is an amazing app. I almost didn't buy it, because the price seemed ridiculously high for what you get, but I had a bunch of free Amazon coins laying around and I wanted to see why someone would charge so much for a slow downer. I have to say this developer needs to hire a new marketing group. I almost want to dock a star for how poorly this is presented--I would have bought it years ago if I knew what makes it better than all the other looping apps (which sell for $0.00 to $2.99, by the way).
First, this is the absolute worst name choice ever. The lack of imagination boggles me. I bet sales would quadruple if they named it something awesome, like "Guitar Pro" (too bad that's taken) or put something in the description like "This will make you a guitar god."
So you may be wondering what makes this app so special? Simple: it lets you take any mp3, adjust the pitch to whatever you want (great for those weirdos that play in A432 or other alternate pitches), and then lets you create and store loops of sections of the song, and then allows you to slow down any or all of those sections without changing pitch. So you can jump to any section and loop it for practice. But that's not all! It has a trainer, which will repeat the sections (or the whole song) a specified number of times, with the option of increasing the speed every so many loops. I have Guitar Pro on the computer and the kindle, songster, and various "slow down" apps, and this has helped my guitar playing the most. Heck, if they would have said the above in the description I would have bought it right away. Currently, I print out the tabs from Guitar Pro and then use this app to actually learn the song ;).
Don't let the poor marketing fool you--this app is worth the money if you are looking for the features I listed above.
I just have a few requests for the developers if they want to make this even better:
-Please allow me to re-arrange the loop order! It's not difficult, but I shouldn't have to recreate a loop to put it at the top.
-Why can't I save over/edit a loop? Again, it's super easy to create a new one, but deleting the old one is an unnecessary step.
-Manual entry of times. It is almost impossible to move the slider to an exact time. Currently, I just press pause at the right spot, but it would be nice to click on the time and type in the exact second I want.
The above are small complaints, and not enough to cause me to lower a star, but they would add that "polish" that would make this a first-class app. That and a name that doesn't sound like a 4th grader came up with it ;),
  • This app only works for fire tablets
It is not clear in the description that this app only works for fire tablets. Had to call amazon and get the refund.
  • Great app but disappointing support
I'm a musician and I use ASD the way a musician would: to help me practice difficult passages by slowing them down and gradually speeding up until I get to the appropriate speed. It worked great for that, up until now.

I haven't been able to use ASD lately because when I try to play a file, I get the message "Error 148. Please redo the complete unlocking instructions or contact Roni Music" I haven't a clue as to what the "complete unlocking instructions" are. I sent mail to [email protected] on Oct. 22 and haven't received anything back from them. I sent another message yesterday. I'm disappointed in their customer support and annoyed because now I can't use ASD. I wish I had a phone number for them.
  • A must-have app for musicians.
    PROS
    - Adjust speed, pitch, EQ of songs for playback
    - Build and save playlists of songs, for instance, setlists for a band
    - Set and save multiple sections of songs as loops (on desktop version, 10 loops per song, on iPhone version unlimited)
    - Set up looping controls like (After X loops, increase the speed Y amount, and increment Z times)
    - Software is updated on an ogoing basis and updates are free for several years with the original purchase, in theory.
    - Great for practice, ear training, transcription, and setlist/repertoire management

    CONS
    - Support is slow if you are in the US, only because they are in Europe. They respond usually the same day, but that typically means overnight. But you probably won't need support very often.
    - Support responses are almost always very terse.
    - Paid upgrades online are not fulfilled with an immediate download -- there is an "up to 48 hour" period after payment before they respond.
    - 10 loop per song limit on desktop version is sometimes a constraint
    - Lack of a click-in or audible tempo based count in option. This would be a nice addition.

    SUMMARY
One of the most useful tools I have as a guitar player. I use it for practice on a nearly daily basis. It can be used for pitch adjustment (no need to retune if playing something recorded tuned down a 1/2 step etc.). It can be used for speed adjustment which is essential for both learning parts and for practicing them above full speed. (Practice from 70% to 110% if you want to be ready for anything on stage). It's an efficient way to track songs you have learned, and to build multiple setlists or playlists for different bands, different interests (12 string songs, rock songs, acoustic songs, favorite band playlist, etc, setlists for multiple bands, etc.) My only real complaints are the lack of a click-in option to start tracks, kind of slowish support due to their location in Europe (They are responsive, it's just the timezone), and the lack of immediate download of paid upgrade orders. That last one is annoying when trying to fix a problem. Again...the timezone. That said, it's cost effective and a very useful tool. I recommend it as I haven't found anything better for daily practice against tracks.

    ALTERNATIVE PRODUCTS
Audacity (free), Transcribe!, RiffstationPro (discontinued as of 2019)
Worth a look depending on your purposes, but I have stayed with ASD for 11 years so far. I'd have gladly bought riffstation for it's ability to filter and pull forward guitar parts, but they discontinued it. A new product is promised, but no date is available from Fender at this time.

    DETAILS
This is one of the most useful tools I have as a guitar player. I used it to slow down and transcribe a very detailed 9 minute song note for note (no small undertaking). I have used the windows version for about 11 years on an almost daily basis for practice purposes, looping, pitch shifting and speed adjusting.

You can build playlists of songs, arrange and re-arrange song order, choose to loop on songs or not to loop but just to play through the playlist, set and name multiple loops within a song, shift the pitch up or down, shift the speed up or down without shifting pitch, EQ the signal to bring forward certain instruments, etc. Very useful.

The desktop version is limited to only 10 loop presets per song. That's been a bit of a limitation on a couple of songs I wanted to break into smaller pieces. The desktop version sells for $50.

I have the iphone app as well. It is $15. It's good too, and does not have the 10 loop per song limitation. Song list management is a little awkward in the iphone version, but it's worth $15 easily and provides me the added benefit of mobility.

It's very useful if you play in a band or multiple bands to set up playlists with the repertoire of the group. Then if you mark loop sections consistently, it's easier to prep for gigs. For instance, I can run down my playlist just picking out the solo sections of each song and running through them quickly on gig day. Or I can scan the repertoire for items I think I might need to brush up on.

My only complaints in 8 years are
    - support is by e-mail and it's not real fast because they are in Europe...the timezone shift delays getting answers solved quickly sometimes. They are pretty responsive though...if you mail them they will answer the same day usually.
    - some of the markings are obtuse like KA for karaoke - which is a function that strips the vocals out of the center of a stereo image. The manual/help pages are not great, although they have decent information.
    - After a while, updates are paid ($30) not free. That's ok but...The original $50 purchase supposedly includes "at least 7 years of free updates." That's ok too but I don't think I got 7 years of updates before they told me I had to pay for an upgrade to fix my problem. Whatever, still well worth it BUT when you pay for an update, instead of giving you a download link or having an automated delivery mechanism, you get the invoice from a 3rd party, and it says Roni will fulfill it within 48 hours. UGH!! ( - 1 star on that.) And that's with a paypal payment, not some check or money order.
    - The desktop version limitation of 10 loops is sometimes a constraint, but not usually. The iPhone version has unlimited (or a limit I haven't hit) loop capacity for each song.
    - I do wish it had a "countdown" feature like a tempo adjusted click in. You can set it up to delay X seconds before replaying a loop, and it has a visual bar that shows the countdown, but if you're trying to exactly hit the start of something, it doesn't work great.

Overall this is one of the best tools I've had as a guitar player to help me practice and for ear training and transcription purposes. I would have killed for this 30 years ago....it's a must have - or at least a similar app is -- if you are a musician. I've spent a lot of money on training aids, books, CDs, DVD's, devices, software etc, but this is probably the best investment I ever made in my playing.

This app or a similar type of app is a must have for any musician. A couple other similar apps, although I don't have experience with them, are Audacity and Transcibe!. I think one of those has a note display that can show on a keyboard image what note or notes the software thinks are being played...that could be very useful for figuring out chord voicings or just hearing a pitch you may be having trouble picking out. Fender had an application called Riffstation that was really awesome for pulling out guitar parts - the filters were great. Unfortunately, that was discontinued and as of 2019 while they say they will have a replacement product, they can't or won't say when and who knows what it will be called, will include, and what features had to be removed due to the legal issue that caused the product to be pulled from the market.

Also I want to add that tackling the task of transcribing some music, even if you are painfully slow at it, will help you to develop your reading/writing skills as well as your ear...a lot. I highly recommend it as a developmental exercise. Start with a small passage of something you like.
