- Oakland GirlNice colors but tiny non-replaceable cakesI am a beginner watercolorist so my ability to discern good from bad is limited. So far I like this set. Wide variety of colors, fairly well pigmented. I have a small Kuretake set that is heavily pigmented but was also more expensive. The small stack of watercolor paper included is good quality but an odd size. They are the size of the case so I guess the intent is that you can pack paper in your case. It might work for a tiny painting or bookmarks. There is an included plastic color swatch card which is handy although the colors are not very accurate but still useful. You get a paper swatch card which will fit in the case. That will be nice once I apply paint swatches. I haven’t used the pen, brush or water brush yet.
Took one star off since the cakes are tiny - about 1/2 inches each way - and I don’t think you can buy replacement cakes. If you use a large brush, it will be hard to get them into the tiny wells. Also, there are 8 metallic paints. These can be a little light, especially the gold.
