- SteveTerrific quality yarnSpectacular yarn! Very similar to Burnat Baby Blanket Yarn, but very well priced! Pretty color choices ( the varigated options produce lovely results!) Great quality; soft , yet sturdy. Perfect thickness for the cozy hats I make for the patients at the Cancer Center in our community.(I loom-knit about 400 hats every year.) The patients love them because the yarn is comfy and has good coverage for their sweet heads. ( Be sure to open the vacuum packed package and let the yarn “poof”back to normal… it takes a few hours, but worth the wait!)
- William HookA great yarn with a great price! This yarn is very similar to other blanket yarn brands at half the cost. I used this yarn to make crocheted sloths and turtles. I found it to be easy to use and not starchy which can cause pull on your hand while you're stitching. This leads to painful areas on and around your thumb and write. I did not experience this at all. There was some shedding in the initial few yards of the yarn but overall, it wasn't enough for me to stop using it. I've only tried the sand colored yarn so far, but the brand offers several different colors that I am planning to try. Overall the quality of the yarn and the softness of the finished project made for a beautiful result. I encourage you to give it a try!
- Chrislyn RuddyYarn was great in both quantity and quality. Great bargain!Yarn was great in both quantity and quality. This blanket is on a queen bed and used 6 skeins of white yarn (1.5 of the colored). It was soft, thick, easy to work with and worked up relatively quickly. I was shocked with how cheap the price was for the amount I received. For $40 I was able to make a queen size blanket and in past experiences, that has been closer to $80-$90 dollars. I would ABSOLUTELY purchase again!
- LeahDecent chenille yarn, but so, so, so many factory knots.I came back to revise my review after actually working with this yarn, and my review only changes slightly from the original (went from 5 stars down to 4). I personally do love this chenille yarn for the price point, and I do think it's a great value compared to other big name brands of similar yarn. There has been extremely minimal shedding, which is awesome! I've frogged many sections of the blanket I'm making and I've never had an issue with shedding no matter how many times I've frogged a single section. I've not used it to make a magic ring/circle, but I've had to tie a lot of sections together because of factory knots (I'll touch more on that later), and I'd say it's pretty sturdy. I did snap the yarn a few times when tying sections together, but I was *really* pulling on it. I'd say it's quite strong. I did try melting the ends together with a candle flame to rejoin factory knots, but I wasnt able to get a good join that way (to be fair, I haven't been able to join any chenille yarn that way, so this could absolutely be user error). It's labeled as a super bulky size 6 chenille, and while I do find it to be slightly thinner than other bulky size 6 chenille yarns, it's not by a very noticeable amount. I've included a picture of the Knyteruna yarn (deep teal blue) next to some Lion Brand Cover Story chenille yarn (multicolored) for size comparison. I ordered a total of 5 of the 4 packs (20 balls in total), and not a single pack had any sort of smell to it at all. All 20 balls are in the color Indigo and every ball matches in color even though the full order was shipped in 2 separate parts, so they were shipped and received at different times. It's pretty easy to work with, and it's nice and squishy soft.
Now, with all that being said... I've gone through approx 15 out of the 20 balls while making a blanket so far, and I have been quite irritated with the sheer number of factory knots inside of each and every single ball. It does say on the paper insert they include that factory knots are to be expected, but there were way more knots than I have ever experienced with any other yarn brand or type before. There were at least 10+ knots in one of the balls, and there have been no less than 4 to 6 knots in every other ball so far. Even saying 4 knots per ball seems like I'm being too fair here because it seems like there's been a factory knot in every other row of my blanket up til this point. I feel like I can't complain about this too much because of the price point for a 4 pack, and the quality really does seem to be quite good for the price, but man.... I think be much more upset about it if I were making anything other than a blanket just for personal use. A few knots here and there is to be expected with any yarn, but this seemed excessive. Hiding a few knots in your project (depending on what's being made) isn't a big deal, but it becomes noticeable after a certain point, which does have an effect overall on your finished product. I can't even imagine trying to make amigurumi with this yarn because of all the knots.
Honestly, if it weren't for the high number of factory knots, I'd have hands down given this yarn a 5 star rating. The knots really are my only complaint, but it's kind of a big one for me, personally.
I did also find it odd that all 6 of the product photos included on the paper insert the yarn came with are all photos that were just taken from Bernat Blanket's Amazon review sections, though. They're literally all made with Bernat yarn. At least one of them (the purple and white blanket) was taken from a Bernat Extra Thick Amazon review, and Bernat Extra is a size 7 chenille yarn, so it's not even the same size as this yarn. I feel like this is misleading, at best, to use a totally different product to advertise your own.
Would I buy this yarn again? Yes, as long as I'm only planning on making a blanket. I most likely wouldn't even consider this yarn for making amigurumi. Would I recommend it? Sure, but do keep in mind that there will very likely be a varying number of factory knots inside of each ball, so as long as you don't mind the knots, I'd say to give it a try. No, it is not as good as Bernat, but it really is hard to beat this price for the quality and amount that you get, though! - Charles & Rosanna KaelbleI love itI purchased this ( I purchased green and white) to make a throw blanket for my daughter’s home, and loved it so much I used it to make a baby blanket, a pillow and to make several crochet turtles. I had never used this yarn before and actually ordered it by mistake but turned out to be a blessing. It’s much like Bernat yarn ( what I thought I ordered and use all the time) the color is beautiful, it’s big than I expected, it’s very sturdy, it very thick and it’s very easy to work with. It never got tangled or had any problems at all. I was completely impressed and have already ordered more to start a blanket for my house and more turtles ????. I love these price and the quality is fantastic
- Amazon CustomerQuality and costThe yarn is lovely and soft but in every ball there were a lot of knots and dirty sections that had to be cut out. This reduces the amount of workable yarn. I was very disappointed, because I had to use way more yarn for my project due to the dirty sections which had to cut out.
- Nathan WrayGreat yarnThis is the first time I used this yarn. It is comparable to Bernat blanket yarn and Michael's demi purl but a lot cheaper. It is super soft and does not shed. Magic Circle is not problem. I love the color choices. I am making chickens with this white yarn and using a 7 mm hook and it is coming out great. I probably with buy all of the colors for plushies that require Bernat blanket yarn. I could see this as a soft blanket. Highly recommend.
