I recognized the little plastic trays from the kits I buy and figured these gems must be a similar size, and I was right.
This resin jelly rhinestone kit is huge. 34,000 gems will cover a ton of projects for me and I expect this kit will last me for years, so at this price, it’s a terrific value. I’ll be using these gems for diamond painting, but if I wanted to bedazzle my phone case or something else, I’d have more than enough gems to do it.
The kit has everything I would need to add some bling to my life. Four tubes of glue is pretty generous. I’ve worked with this glue in the past and it dries clear so it doesn’t detract from the art. Definitely use in a well ventilated area because it has a strong smell that lingers until it’s dry. They also include two shaker trays to get the gems right side up, a spatula for scooping the gems from the container, a wax pencil with sharpener, and some angled tweezers. The tweezers do a good job picking up the tiny gems but aren’t precise enough for plucking any chin hairs. The plastic case that everything comes in feels durable and has snaps on 3 sides and keeps the gems separated well.
I just love all of the colors that are included. There are 24 different options and each one has maximum sparkle, especially when the light hits them just so. The kit is easy to use and comes with a handy instruction sheet that’s simple to follow. I’m very pleased with this kit and can’t wait to incorporate some extra sparkle and fun into my next diamond painting project. - Helaina LanierNot very many rhinestonesVery good I love the colors and how much glue they give you, but there is not that much rhinestones .
- I ThinkA nice set! All rhinestones are size SS10, wax pencil works better than tweezers.This is the perfect rhinestone kit to get started using rhinestones. It comes with four tubes of glue, a scoop/spoon, two trays for sorting, a wax pencil, sharpener, tweezers, and gift card with string. The rhinestones are mostly all the “jelly” kind, which are solid colors with an iridescent shine. Some are more crystal-like in nature; these include the silver, gold, and clear/iridescent rhinestones (next to the red). All of the rhinestones are size SS10 (2.8 - 2.9mm) in size, even though they show a size chart on the back of the cardboard insert.
When opening the plastic container, I have to be really careful not to disrupt the rhinestones too much. They seem to have a static charge and get stuck to the plastic easily. There are closures on three sides of the container, so this helps keep it securely closed.
There are many color combinations and gradients that you can make with this set, and I love the variety. I do wish there was a more orangey orange, and I don’t usually use pink, so there are many more of those than I’d prefer. The bronze rhinestones seem to be the worst quality, with some of the pigment missing from the edges. The gold ones look like they are mixed with silver, but the silver is actually the back side of them.
When working with these, I found that it’s easier to use the wax pencil than the tweezers. The tweezers do work well for nudging the rhinestones into position, but they do not grab them well. The wax pencil needs to be sharpened before using. It picks the rhinestones up best when pressed on a corner or facet edge. It doesn’t seem to leave any wax on the rhinestones. This glue works really well, and I like it has the needle tip, which helps with precision. It’s nice to have four tubes of glue, in case one gets too dried out.
