  • A MUST READ
Run, don't walk to grab a copy of Jeremy Renner's "My Next Breath." If I could have given it more than 5 stars, I would have. It's a truly amazing and inspiring story that captivates the reader from the very first page.

I remember when the news came out that Jeremy was in an accident; it sent shockwaves through the entertainment world. I thought I knew what happened, but I had a completely different version in my head. You can't help but cry from the raw, vulnerable view that Jeremy displays during that time, laying bare his experiences and emotions in a way that feels both intimate and profound. He takes you back to that fateful moment, and it’s heart-wrenching. But if you really want to be immersed in the story, get the audiobook too. Not only is it read by Jeremy himself, bringing an unparalleled authenticity to his words, but there are also 9-1-1 dispatch calls played, providing a haunting context to his experience. It’s gut-wrenching in the best possible way. But it's not just the details or vulnerability that you read about in the story; it's Jeremy's incredible resilience and unwavering determination that are truly inspiring. His "never-give-up" mentality saved him that day as he manually forced himself to breathe for an astounding 45 minutes, a stark reminder of the willpower that lies within us when faced with adversity. Most of us would have given up in such a dire situation; however, his profound love for his daughter and family propelled him forward through the darkest hours. And he used that same relentless determination to push himself both mentally and physically as he worked toward recovery. He didn’t take what others said to heart; instead, he was determined to run again, against all odds, and he did. As someone who's had a life-altering accident, I know how easy it is to accept your limitations and how challenging it can be to break free from that mindset. But he didn’t. He has inspired me to not give up and to keep pushing forward, to redefine what is possible in the face of obstacles. He looks at life differently now, with an appreciation that many of us may take for granted. He will never have a day where he is not keenly aware of what happened to him—a constant reminder that life can change in an instant. He will also have to rehabilitate his body, always pushing through the pain, but through it all, he has chosen to see the good in everything, even his accident. Like he says, "I remain keenly aware that I'll never have a bad day for the rest of my life. And to learn all that, all I had to do was die." This perspective is a gift, and his journey serves as a powerful testament to the human spirit's capacity for resilience and hope.
  • Inspiring story of a miracle! Great read!
Wow! My intention for the night was to just sit down and briefly page through the book, looking at the pictures and knowing I didn't quite have the time to read tonight. However, page 1 sucked me right in and now I'm at Chapter 4, page 59 and might very well read this in one sitting tonight. I've been a huge Jeremy Renner fan since SWAT, Tag is my go-to comedy movie when I need a good laugh, and being an archery enthusiast myself, Hawkeye instantly became my favorite Avenger. I followed him on social media before this happened so once he started posting his recovery, I checked in frequently to help heal my broken heart I felt for him. The way he details every second of that gruesome day makes you feel like you're right there with him on the ice, holding his hand, cheering him on and reminding him to breathe and stay alive for his beloved family. I watched him on Diane Sawyer so it's easy to visualize the area he's describing and the treacherous conditions of the roads, but hearing his own words brings to life the horrific trauma he endured. It is perfectly written and very easy to follow, and I can't put it down. We already knew it was indescribable what he went through, but to see it in words makes me just cringe in my chair and thank God repeatedly that he survived and is doing so remarkably well! What tenacity he has to pull through and focus on everything important in his life, and not wallow in torture and give up. He's a superhero on screen, but seems he is the very definition of it in real life. His family is superb, his love for his daughter makes my heart explode (I have 3 girls, I know the feeling!), and his will to not only live but to thrive is beyond admirable. I'll likely be finishing this tonight, and anxiously awaiting Mayor season 4 to cheer him on! Get this book and be prepared to read it all at once! God bless, Jeremy Renner. The world is so happy you are still here. Much love!

Update: it's 2:00am and I read the whole thing today. He sure didn't have to share this story with the public, but I can imagine perhaps it was therapeutic to relive it, but likely not always in a good way as it's got to be so hard detailing the worst experience of your life. The book had my emotions all over the place; I laughed along with his stubbornness as I could feel it emanating off the pages, and I understood that desperate need to escape the hospital. I teared up as he described the anguish and guilt he felt for "causing" this, though I can't imagine his family holds him guilty for it. I felt so awful for the excruciating pain he had to endure. If I didn't know what the future held for him, this book would have been so much more emotionally difficult to read, but having seen him on Mayor season 3 and numerous times on talk shows and social media, I at least felt relief knowing how well he pulls through before I even got to those parts of the book. However, it's clear that it didn't come without a hefty mental, emotional and physical price tag that he paid in his recovery. Eternally grateful you are still here and proud of you for living with a new outlook and so much positivity. You are an inspiration!
  • Miracle
I enjoyed the book, it is a very interesting read, it is truly amazing he is alive. I admire Jeremy and his courage.
  • A raw, inspiring journey
I just finished My Next Breath: A Memoir by Jeremy Renner, and wow, what a powerful, heartfelt read. The opening chapters detailing the snowcat accident had me in tears; the vivid, moment-by-moment descriptions put me right there on the mountain, feeling every second of fear, chaos, and heroism. The way Jeremy paints not just his own experience but what everyone around him was doing in those critical moments is masterful storytelling.

The heart of the book, though, is the recovery and that’s where it truly shines. Jeremy’s insights into self-determination, the unbreakable bond of friendship, the depth of love, and the importance of giving back are profound and deeply moving. This isn’t just a celebrity memoir; it’s a testament to resilience and purpose.

As a fellow Northern California native who grew up in the same region and often visits Reno and Lake Tahoe (just 90 minutes from home), I felt an extra connection. When Jeremy talks about his community work and the incredible contributions his family is making for foster kids in those areas, I could see it, the places, the people, the impact. It’s personal, real, and inspiring.

Congratulations to Jeremy for having the courage to write this book and share his most vulnerable, honest thoughts. I’m a longtime fan of his work on screen, but now I’m an even bigger fan of the man behind it.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who believes in second chances, community, and the strength of the human spirit. Can’t wait to hear more of your stories, Jeremy. Keep going.
