- ShannonERomantasy with fae and vampiresBrimstone is the second book in the Fae and Alchemy series, and it did not disappoint. We got to see Saeris and Fisher as a couple, and their relationship stayed fun and interesting. Saeris struggled with her new role, and the problems kept piling up. There wasn't a chance to get bored with everything that was going on and the new information revealed throughout the story. I really enjoyed the side characters. I think Carrion makes the book, and I would love to see more of him. In book three, I would love it if he had his own POV, or he needs a novella. Finally, I just love all the elements that make this a romantasy: the spice, banter, found family, tragic backstories, and more! I did think the ending was a bit much. There was a lot thrown at the reader in the last part of the book, but Callie Hart really likes her dramatic endings. So many things to come in book 3... storylines left dangling and questions to be answered. I can't wait, and this is a 5-star book!

Well good gods - there is so much to unpack here.
I went into this book with such high expectations because I devoured Quicksilver (twice) in less than 2 days. Brimstone, not so much. Honestly, this book was so darn slow moving for me. The last 10-15% is what did it for me in this book. Besides Carrion and his hilarious banter, it was the best part of the book for me!
However, I did really enjoy this book. I giggled, I teared up, I blushed and said What The Heck on so many occasions. Saeris, Kingfisher, Carrion and Onyx all get 5 stars!! Their characters are so well thought out, IMO. I truly believe that Carrion carries a lot of this book. Saeris is truly a force of a female and so full of snark. Kingfisher, he may be broody and v!0lent but he is just a lush teddy bear when it comes to his mate. And Onyx, omg, he is seriously the best animal sidekick ever!!
The immersive, lush detail, and vibrancy of this world is so amazing. It’s dark and full of so many dangers. And the lore, it was incredible; and while it tended to drag on at times, its importance to the story is clear. There are a lot of moving pieces in this book that will need to be tied up in the final installment so I’m anxious to see how it all plays out.
But let’s talk about that ending for a moment, shall we. I’m usually pretty decent at pinpointing the Easter eggs and figuring out some twists; but this one…nope! Don’t see that coming with a 20 ft pole!! But, so many things make so much more sense now!! Now we must ponder over all of this and anxiously await book 3. - Abigail GeorgeHOLY MOLY!!!!HOLY. MOLY.
If I wasn’t already a huge fan of the first book in this series, I’m an even bigger fan of the second. This book had me on the edge of my seat from the very first chapter — and somehow managed to keep me there the entire time. It takes everything we loved from book one and levels it up: richer character development, higher stakes, more spice, and even more jaw-dropping twists and turns.
I swear, every time I thought I knew what was coming, the author said, “Nope!” and flipped everything upside down in the best way. The emotional depth in this book caught me completely off guard. It had me tearing up — and I never cry while reading. That alone should tell you how powerfully this story hits.
The characters feel even more alive in this one. Their relationships grow, break, mend, and tangle in ways that feel so real and so intense. The world expands beautifully. Perfection. Not a single dull moment — the plot keeps pulling you deeper and deeper in.
By the time I finished, I was emotionally ruined, spiritually fulfilled, and already desperate for the next book. This series just keeps getting better, and book two solidified my obsession. - debbieI loved itI loved it.
It had everything I love in a book. It had a few errors but that didn’t bother me and didn’t mess with the overall book. I loved the story, it kept me interested and I loved the characters. I’m so glad Hart didn’t do anything crazy to break my trust as the reader that would make me want to throw the series out (Fourth Wing), if anything she helped build this beautiful world and story that I wish I could live in forever.
It had 10/10 ????️, a plot that kept me on my toes, and depth.
I can’t wait for the next one.
I also loved the voice actors. I loved how we had both POV!
My physical copy is also beautiful. - Lisa-MDIncredible follow-up to Quicksilver - A review of the actual story, not the condition of the book!PLEASE REVIEW THE STORY AND NOT THE CONDITION OF THE BOOK OR QUALITY OF THE AUDIO BOOK!
4.5 stars, rounded up to 5
No spoilers follow. Like many others, I was very excited for the release of this book. It did not disappoint! Many of our favorite characters from Quicksilver are back, and some really compelling new characters are introduced. There is plenty of action and just the right balance of victories and hurdles. The love story between Saeris and Kingfisher is top tier. Carrion is his usual hilarious self, and Onyx is the perfect sidekick. My only concern is that there are still quite a few really big storylines that need to be wrapped up in book 3. I hope Callie can pull it off because I really don't want to have to wait for a fourth book! My only small gripe is that there were quite a few minor errors (and one fairly large one) that should have been caught during the editing process. - ElinorI think this book may have finished me - and I already need to go back and reread...Well that's a lot to process. (No Spoilers)
Overall I really loved a lot of this book, the story has me sucked in just as it originally did in Quicksilver. There is a lot of additional world building and character growth and I love that Seris and Fisher are truly ride or die for each other through thick and thin.
I'm giving only 4 stars because there were definite editing and story inconsistences throughout the book. I felt like in a number of places I had to block out what I knew from Quicksilver in order to enjoy Brimstone and in a series this loved and anticipated that is an uncomfortable feeling.
