- Amazon CustomerLike a great roller coaster! The book delivers an exhilarating reading experience, reminiscent of a thrilling first-time roller coaster ride. Each page turn brings unexpected twists and turns, keeping readers on the edge of their seats, eagerly anticipating the next narrative development. The unpredictable storyline creates a sense of excitement and suspense, much like the heart-pounding moments of a dynamic amusement park attraction, where the path ahead remains a delightful mystery.
- Tami BGood ReadThis book was definitely a slow burner. It didn't have the initial non-stop energy I enjoyed in the first book of the series. It didn't start piquing my interest until chapter 43. It was a good twist to the original style of the first book, and the twists piqued my interest towards the end.
However, I'm nervous about the final series. I do plan to finish it, though. - Israel DrazinThis is a superb thriller“The Housemaid’s Secret” by Freida McFadden is a superb book. It is a continuation of her prior thriller “The Housemaid.” Readers who missed the preceding volume will still enjoy this one, even if they haven't read it. Anything that they need to know is told in this tale.
This thriller is about a poor woman with a history of ten years in jail for a murder she did not commit. She did kill a man, but it was self-defense. The man was threatening to kill a woman he had been abusing. The jury at her trial did not believe the truth. As a result, she had difficulty finding a job as an ex-con. She worked as a maid. But on the side, he helped many abused women and got a reputation among those whom she helped.
She receives a call from a wealthy man to come work at his penthouse. He told her his wife is very ill and she should not try to speak to her. When she sees blood on the floor, she approaches the woman, who tells her she has been brutalized repeatedly by her husband. She decides to help.
However, as in all Freida McFadden thrillers, what appears to be true is not necessarily true; good people may be bad, and bad people may be good. There are always twists and turns in the thriller, with plenty of red herrings. Readers will enjoy this book. - HappyShopperJoyceAnother fast paced thrill ride!Another fast paced mind bending read with The Housemaid's Secret! From the first page to the very end you are going to experience Millies ups and downs with her various employers and her long time love from the first book Enzo. This book has a story twist you never see coming, look alike men who are not related, and a woman who manipulated them both. I don't want to give it away but the manipulator in the situation is not going to fair well. Definitely worth the time to download and read in what will seem like a very short time when you start reading this one. Easily caught up in the story that keeps you interested through the whole thing. Enjoy it however you want, kindle or print versions worth every page turning, time burning minute!
- Kindle CustomerGreat Thiller..Very suspenseful and the twist & turns make sure you don’t want to put the book down! I enjoyed this series.
- Kristine TA SequelWhile I dont think this was my favorite Freida book, it wasnt my least favorite by far. Just kinda so-so. But if you enjoyed The Housemaid, it's worth a read even just for the sake of curiosity.
Years after the events of the Housemaid, Millie finds herself a bit strapped for cash after losing a very cushy babysitting job. Desperate for anything, Millie puts an ad out, hoping for anyone to hire her. Much to her surprise, a very well off man is in need of a housekeeper, mainly due to his wife's recent ailments. Shortly after taking the job, Millie releases things might not be as it seems, and may drag her down a path she thought she left behind.
I read this purely because I enjoyed the Housemaid, but had this been a stand alone book, I dont think I would have really enjoyed it. It wasnt bad, just not for me. - Jazzin' in JerseyCaptivating story ! Love this author's Handmaid series.I have Audible and got the narrative version. I read the first book and had to read this which did not disappoint. The housemaid is a piece of work - at times I actually laughed. I loved the narration and the story did NOT disappoint. Towards the end I was very suspicious of the twist which there is. I won't give away any details as I hate to ruin reading or listening enjoyment . I HIGHLY recommend this book. You do not have to read all in the series or in any succession because the author has written so each book stands on its own. I can't wait to read the next one ! Good job !
- I actually have been wearing this brand and number for a couple of yearsEasy reading, always lots of twists!Love all her books! Real thrillers!!
The Coworker was good and The Boyfriend.
