  • a triumph. surely to become one of the greatest (and most unique) sports books ever written.
as with all of chuck's books, i read football in one sitting the day it arrived. without a doubt, he has reached a new apex. this book is among the finest bits of argued prose klosterman has ever, ever written. if you love chuck you will ADORE this book. if you get chuck, this book will make INCREDIBLE sense to you. his media analysis, in particular, are among the tome's highlights. you can trace back to earlier essays that touched upon football (and television) in his prior works and see how he has ruminated on them for years and now recrafted these thoughts into more coherent and extensive treatises.

as someone who is not a football enthusiast, i now have a renewed appreciation for the sport and its place in american culture. per usual, klosterman led me to thoughts i did not know i could think. BRAVO.
