- Customer ReviewA delight! This is an absolutely DELIGHTFUL story to read! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
The writing is absolutely fantastic. The narrative voice is excellent for this style of story, not thick and heavy, but not too lean, either. The worldbuilding is just enough to set the stage and make you feel fully immersed in a scene, but not too much that you get bored from reading.
The characters are wonderfully written, fully fleshed out, and unique from each other. No cardboard blobs here. Quinn was my favorite, a billion times over. No spoilers, but he’s everything I look for in a character. Shannyn is an impressive lead, and her character arc is incredibly powerful. Actually, ALL of the character arcs are powerful, so well done to the writer for having a fleshed out cast that’s interesting from start to finish.
The plot is spectacular. A kingdom that’s sort of collapsing in on itself, with outside forces manipulating and playing games. There’s lots of assassins, lots of danger, lots of threats to life, some torture, an epic conclusion... It starts off strong and ends incredibly well. I was not disappointed by the ending AT ALL, and we shall leave it at that.
I’m not one for romance, but the minor romance in this story still caught my fancy, and that says a lot. I’ll stay spoiler free on this one, but I’ll just say that I was rooting for the couple about halfway through the story simply BECAUSE the characters were so well-written.
Content is mostly clean, aside from violence. I’d say PG-13 will be fine for this, so long as the readers can handle blood and some minor torture scenes (I’ve seen worse in tween books, to be honest). There is some stabbing and shooting with arrows and the like, human on human violence, but nothing horrendously graphic. No sexual content, and I don’t recall any language (so if it existed, it was minor; again, I’ve surely read worse in tween books).
I would definitely recommend this book for readers 13 and up looking for a fantasy book with a dash of mystery, minor magic, assassins and archers and swordsman, a hint of budding romance, and a whole lot of royal/court intrigue and danger.
It’s a winner, my friends! Give it a read! - Amazon CustomerBeautifully written adventure!I loved this story so much! The action, the adventure, the plot, the character development, the sweet romance, and the happy ending, it was all delightful and had me entranced from the beginning until the very end! You know when you finish a book and just sit and think about it afterward to just process it all and bask in its glory? This is definitely that kind of book! I appreciate so much the clean language and no spice, sweet love story. It's action-packed, it's exciting, it's has great lessons. I really loved this! Thanks for a delightful read!
- Just a ScholarThe whole packageJUST BUY IT!! It’s been awhile since I was this engaged with a book, especially one that moved me to tears. Solid, engaging characters, intriguing plot, nice foreshadowing, immersive setting, and beautiful prose. It’s the whole package. I devoured it within a few days (as a homeschooling and working momma, that’s quick for me!). I also loved that the stakes were high without gratuitous violence or any language. I’m always on the lookout for a clean, fun read that has some depth and Dreamteller definitely checked those boxes.
So do yourself a favor- call into work, feign sickness to get out of school (just kidding, teens!), and get comfy because Dreamteller is going to grab you and not let go! - DaraA Gripping, Fast-Paced Coming of Age Fantasy with Intrigue and MysteryDreamteller was a wow, I couldn't put it down! It was one of those books where you say "just one more chapter," and before you know it, hours have passed! The story follows Shannyn, an heiress with a secured future, who suddenly finds herself swept into a dangerous prophecy she never asked for. The mystery and suspense were absolutely gripping, and the twists kept me guessing the entire time. There’s a perfect balance of court intrigue, spies, and a masked archer who might just be the only one who can help Shannyn uncover the truth. The pacing was fantastic, and I found myself staying up late, desperate to find out what would happen next.
The characters, especially Shannyn, were well-developed, and I loved the emotional depth to her journey. The stakes were high, with danger lurking at every turn, and the tension between truth, sacrifice, and rebellion kept me hooked. I do wish Daniel and the Queen had more chapters each, as I found their parts of the story compelling, but it didn’t take away from the overall enjoyment. This was such a fun, fast-paced read, and I’m really hoping there’s more to come from this world. Highly recommend for fans of fantasy with lots of intrigue, mystery, and plot twists! - Terrance Niedziela Jr.King Josiah Meets The Middle AgesK. D. Shade's tale will keep you thoroughly enraptured and entertained. Her heroes you will love to love and her villains you will love to hate. A few of the side characters are annoying enough that you'll want to slap them. But it is a great tale and well worth the read. The story had many twists and surprises. I enjoyed the way she used dreams and visions to increase tension and give backstory. The book was masterfully written and I look forward to more works by this gifted author.
