I have always loved Dex in past books and I’m so glad we finally got his story because I am obsessed with the man. I love the Archer brothers and I can’t wait for this entire series because each one of them has won me over. Dex is back in his hometown after working for the FBI and has a dark past from his father that they are all still living with. Brae and her son move to Starlight Grove and she is determined to find her best friend that went missing there a year ago. Brae is truly fiery and brave. I love her determination and strength for her son and best friend. Living next to Dex quickly became a blessing and they formed an unstoppable relationship. The way she saw Dex for him and his fierce protectiveness, beautiful heart and strength. Despite his hard times, she was there supporting and loving him just like he was for her. Brae and her son, Owen quickly became two more people Dex would do whatever he could to protect and love them like they deserve. The friendship that grew between Dex and Owen was everything. Owen is like a mini Dex and it was so cute the way they bonded over computers. The Archer brothers and Waylon welcomed Brae and Owen in their family like they have always belonged. These brothers have been through so much and are all dealing with it in their own ways. It will make your heart hurt and you will love them all. I cannot wait for them all to get their happily ever afters like they deserve.
I could truly go on and on but I don’t want to spoil anything, I’m just saying you need to read immediately. And the audio with the full cast was everything! Each narrator did an amazing job at bringing each character to life and all the different personalities. This story has it all.
Braedyn Winslow is returning to Starlight Grove to search for her best friend/sister of the heart Nova, who disappeared a year ago when they were hiking. The sheriff’s investigation turned up nothing, and was declared a cold case. Braedyn is sure there’s more, and has moved to Starlight Grove to find the truth. Owen is Braedyn’s 8 year old son, and Yeti (mix of Lab, St. Bernard, coonhound and pit bull) is their dog and quite an accomplished search and rescue dog in training. Not to mention hilarious.
Dex Archer is returning to Starlight, his home and family after burying himself in the FBI doing investigating by hacking, legally. He is a master. he has four brothers, and a great uncle Waylon who took them in as kids when their life was turned upside down. His brother Kol is an investigator for the Forest Service and has a daughter Skylar who is seven and loved by all.
Maverick is a smoke jumper, Wylder owns the bar in town called The Boot.
Orion is a mystery even to his brothers. He is brilliant, but spends most of his time alone in his home.
There is so much depth to this story, Braedyn, her search for Nova, starting a new life, and an ex who harasses her. Dex is trying to forget his roots, and move past the rage of his father’s crimes.
Best of all is the smooth introduction of a few of our favorite characters from Sparrow Falls! Banter, laughter, romance and suspense round the story out. It’s fascinating, and a must read! - michaela wisemanARC REVIEWdid i finish this one or did it finish me?
i KNEW i was going to love dex’s story even after just the small glimpses we saw of him in sparrow falls, however this exceeded ALL my expectations (and trust me- they were high).
brae moved to starlight grove with her son owen and her dog yeti to find her best friend that went missing a little over a year before she moved and brae is DETERMINED for people to listen to her and to help her find her friend. dex is back in starlight grove, his hometown, after being with the FBI for ten years. he’s finally back in the same town as his 4 brothers, his niece, and his great uncle who raised all 5 boys when the rest of the town turned their backs on them.
what started as an “inconvenient” first meeting (????) that then turned into them being neighbors, with more time spent together and the more dex helped brae with her mission these two fell absolutely head over heels for one another. they broke down each other’s walls & helped each other heal in ways that no one else had been able to do. dex was the absolute BEST with owen, brae’s son, and became a father to him in all the ways that count.
when i say dex & brae deserve nothing but the best i absolutely mean it, and i’m saying the BEST for these two are each other.
what a way to start the starlight grove series, and i just KNOW these archer brothers are going to absolutely steal my heart in every single way & i couldn’t be more excited!????
