- SamReliable Jump Starter That Sold Me the First Time I Saw It WorkI actually bought the NOCO Boost GB40 because of a camping trip with family. My truck battery died out there, and my brother-in-law pulled his GB40 out and jumped my truck in seconds. That was all the convincing I needed. As soon as I got home, I ordered one for myself.
Since then, I’ve used it a couple of times to help other people, and it’s worked perfectly every time. It’s quick, easy to use, and way more convenient than dealing with jumper cables or hoping someone nearby is available to help. The size is great too — compact enough to keep in the truck without taking up any real space.
The GB40 feels solid and well-built, and the safety features give me confidence when I’m hooking it up, especially in less-than-ideal conditions. It holds a charge well, and I like knowing I have it ready just in case something goes wrong with my battery again.
Overall, this jump starter has become one of those “must-have” items I keep in my truck at all times. It’s reliable, powerful, and already saved me more than once. I would recommend this NOCO device to anyone who owns a car. Consider it one-payment dead battery insurance with no wait, delays, or co-pay.

• MY EXPERIENCE:
My car developed a short in the door lock mechanism that drained the battery in less than 24 hours. Between the inept Ford dealership and the excellent local private automotive shop, It took 5 weeks and several visits to trace and repair the short. In the meantime I needed a reliable way to jump-start my car on a nearly daily basis.
After searching Amazon, I purchased this jump starter based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews. And it has really served me well. It was used multiple times between shop visits and has been used multiple times since then. It has been reliable when needed, jump-starting cars with ease. The Li-Ion battery holds a charge for a very long time. After sitting on the shelf for over 6 months it still appeared to hold nearly a full charge. And then only took about an hour to top it up.
I've carried jumper cables in my trunk my whole life, but when a jump is needed you can never be certain someone will come along who's willing and has the time to assist you. This powerful jump-starter eliminates that uncertainty. It's also very easy to use and makes a great present for friends and family - even those who aren't very mechanically inclined.
• USEFUL LIFE & RECHARGE FREQUENCY
- From NOCO, when answering a question here on Amazon:
'The Boost should last several years with regular use and proper storage. To help extend the life of the internal battery, use and recharge at least every couple of months.'
- Not everyone will have a need to use this device as a power bank, so the battery won't get properly charged and discharged as described. In that case my suggestion is to use the NOCO every month or two to charge your cell phone.
- From NOCO, in the Important Safety Warnings section of the instruction manual:
'To ensure maximum battery life, avoid charging your product for more than a week at a time, as overcharging may shorten battery life. Over time, an unused product will discharge and must be recharged before use. Disconnect the product from power sources when not in use.'
• FEATURES:

• CONNECTIONS:
- 12v Out - The included battery clamps are to be connected here. This is a unique connector so you cannot connect the jumper cables stored in your trunk directly to this device.
- USB In - The included cable, or any USB to micro USB charging cable can be plugged in here in order to charge the NOCO jump-starter battery. The power rating of the charger device will dictate how fast the NOCO will come to a full charge.
- USB Out - Let's you use the NOCO as a Power Bank (5V, 2.1A), using a standard USB cable.
• RECHARGING -
Time needed to charge the NOCO - The following comes from the User Manual.
Assuming a nearly or fully discharged NOCO GB40:
Charger (source) Rating = Full Recharge Time.

• EASY TO USE:
1. Plug the clamps into the NOCO.
2. Connect the clamps to the car battery.
3. Press the NOCO power button to turn it on.
4. Start the car.
5. Press the NOCO power button to turn it off.
6. Disconnect the device from the car battery. - BrandenWorth $99, but "charging" cable is a joke. Good buy for someone with a phone charger.Well built, high quality. Definitely not a cheapo or a ripoff. Have not used it to jump yet, so I cannot testify to it's usability, but I trust other reviews in this area. Got it for $55 bucks on Black Friday, but if it works as advertised, it's for sure worth the $99 normal price. Carry bag is stylish and sufficient.
However
It comes with a double ended type C cable. Double ended cable, and no adapter. Meaning, you cannot charge this and use it with what comes with it. Even with an adapter, the cable doesn't have a USB end to plug into it. So, the "charging cable" is essentially worthless and you might as well just use your phone charger, or go buy one.
Professional packaging, charges just fine with a phone charger, good quality.
Tl;dr: Worth $99 and below, but needs additional equipment to charge. Provided C cable is only useful for using unit as a power bank for your C type phone. - ReneBets Option for Easy Jump StartThis actually works! I have a Kia Soul EX 2023 that I don't drive a lot and the battery dies regularly. Had to rely on AAA but not anymore. This NOCO GB40 works great for my car. Wished I found this sooner. It comes with a storage bag, jumper attachment, and charging USB C cable. This is meant to handle 3-4 jump starts. I keep this in the car and you do have to remember to re-charge it to full every 3 months or so. There are USB inlet so you could also use it to charge your phone if needed. I found this to be very simple to use. Just attach the cable, connect to your car battery, turn it on, then start your car, turn it off and disconnect the cables. EZ. I now have peace of mind and no longer need to worry about the car battery draining since i can now jump start anytime. Highly recommended.
