- Henry S.Versatile and AccurateI’ve been using the Etekcity Infrared Thermometer for about four months, and it’s been far more useful than I expected.
I first bought it to locate an indoor draft, but quickly found myself using it for all kinds of things, a big one being to check the concrete temperature before walking my dog in the summer, or verifying that my fridge and oven are running at the right temps, and even spot-checking my griddle surface.
The readings are fast and appear very accurate, showing consistent results across different surfaces. It’s lightweight, easy to use, and feels well-built.
If you’re looking for a reliable, no-fuss temperature gun that’s useful for far more than just cooking, this one’s an excellent choice. - TolaNaomiThis is a lot more fun than it should beI have had a blast with this thing right out of the box! First and foremost, it is not a medical device, don't take your or somebody else's temperature with it. That's a completely different type of thermometer. This is a highly functioning tool and you should use it as such.
Having said that and after taking the temperature of my TV, streaming stick, etc., I do a lot of crafting and have a couple of different heat presses. One of them I'm sure is malfunctioning and has a lot of cold spots. Only way I could prove it was to video taking its temperature set at 400°F. I had a friend calibrate this so she's true. Sure enough, the temperature varied from 359-419°F set at 385°F. I've contacted the company to get warranty support for a replacement.
I also use a convection oven to do some other crafting and again getting the right temperature is important. I have an oven thermometer in it but it was saying it was a lot hotter. This guy said it was right on the money.
It came with batteries, easy grip, nice looking lightweight and now my new best friend checking my oven temperature to make sure it's not too hot or too cold when I'm baking something. The read speed is almost instantaneous it's so quick. It doesn't store temperatures but do you really need it too?

Lightweight.This is the second one of these I have purchased, it works well for my purposes which is to check the basking area(s) for out reptiles, and verify oven temp. I'm please that it now takes AA batteries rather than the 9 volt it used to use. It's lightweight, fits in my hand (average female) nicely. It's easy to use, you pull the trigger and the gun does the rest. The reading come up quickly. As far as durability... Well, I wouldn't suggest bouncing it off a wall or the floor but with normal use it should last for years, my last one did.

Last year, after one week of thawing my turkey in my refrigerator in advance of Thanksgiving Day, my turkey remained rock solid. Plan B thawed my turkey just in time, but the last minute stress of doing so ruined the "pleasure" of preparing my bird.
This year, the Elekcity IR Laser Temperature Gun helped me realize that my side-by-side refrigerator-freezer was indeed a side-by-side freezer-freezer; the unit temperature setting had been inadvertantly pushed to the frigid cold setting.
Now I will be properly informed of the refrigerator temperature during the days that I will thaw my turk, and restore the "restful grace" of prepping and cooking the bird. Information wins the day, and the Etekcity IR Laser Temperature Gun provides me the data I need to monitor the cooking process. Buy one; I won't be without one again.
