- Not easy to pleaseVery compact, very good utility, excellent reputation in the EMS communityGiving 5* for time being. Made a test cut on some webbing very similar to seat belt webbing, and the device cuts well. Bear in mind you must hold the webbing tight as you pull the blade thru the webbing. Also, cut at an angle, approx. 45 degrees, instead of straight across. The most restraint webbing is woven this way for more strength, but makes cutting straight across more difficult.
I have not tested the spring loaded punch on glass yet, but did test on a piece of aluminum plate and it put a good impression, so it should do well on tempered glass. Be advised that on LAMINATED glass, which is most windshields and SOME front door windows, neither this nor any other punch or small emergency hammer will work very well. It's not a fault of the device, but rather the multi-layer by design of the window. You basically have to cut your way thru laminated glass.
As a former firefighter/ paramedic, this device was not around when I was in service. However, I read thru many fire rescue forums discussing this technology, and this Resqme escape tool is the device most of the current EMS/ Rescue personnel are giving their family members and putting in their personally owned vehicles, and this is the device I'm issuing to my family members.
Final note- these come in various colors- get the light neon green color. A lot of the other colors will blend in or be hard to spot in many car interiors. You want something you can spot in an instant, because you may need to exit the car in a hurry. Absolutely do not get the black, as it will be very hard to find. If I were going to make any recommendation to the mfr, I'd ask them to make a neon green version using glow-in-the-dark plastic.
Hope this helps someone on the edge of a decision. I know what a pain it is reading 50 reviews on competing products... - Cody R.I feel better knowing it’s within easy reach if ever neededI purchased the pack of two Resqme escape tools to keep one in my car and one in my spouse’s vehicle—peace of mind on wheels.
Why I Recommend It:
• Dual-purpose design—combined seatbelt cutter and window breaker in one compact tool
• Super compact and lightweight
• Proven and trusted—developed originally for first responders
• Made in the USA, crafted from durable materials with a spring-loaded glass breaker that resets—ready for multiple uses.
Pros:
• Cuts through jammed seatbelts cleanly when sliced diagonally—blade is razor‑sharp.
• The glass breaker mechanism shatters tempered glass effectively with minimal effort.
• Bright neon yellow color makes it easy to spot in an emergency.
A Few Notes:
• It may require a solid, firm push to activate the window breaker—so it’s helpful to practice once or twice in a safe setting.
• Because it’s small with a recessed blade, it’s safe to handle—but definitely keep it secured so it’s not accidentally exposed.
This isn’t just a gadget—it’s a potential lifesaving device that belongs on every keychain. The simplicity, durability, and dual functionality make it a smart choice for any driver. - Luis LozoyaHandy and reliable tool to keep on your keychainI keep this on my keychain, and it’s one of those things that’s just smart to have. It’s lightweight, sturdy, and easy to use, great functionality for such a small tool. The value for the money is excellent, especially since you get two. It’s also ready to go right out of the package, no setup needed. I like that it’s made in the USA and feels solid for its size. Gives me real peace of mind knowing I always have it with me.
- Ryan WellsGood buyPretty good. A lot of us carry them at work
- Austin W.Pretty nice!It seems to be a great design and very functional.
- Lorance BaldwinSave your life equipmentBought these after going down the FB rabbit’s hole about divers finding lost/missing people, drowned in their cars. These are simple to use, and I put one in each of our cars. I wish these came with the visor attachment as a standard offering (they’re an additional option), but these did come with a small zip-tie to attach it to the back of your rear view mirror. Cheap insurance if you need to get out of your car when you’re trapped.
- OrcatrainerA MUST have in any car for safety! This is definitely a MUST have emergency tool in any car for safety!
Even more since I have a Tesla, and that everything in this car is controlled electrically, and not mechanically. Which means, there is some chances that in case of a crash, nothing (especially the windows) will work any more, and the windows will stay stuck and will not operate. So, this tool will come in handy in such case, to help break your windows and also cut your (if stuck) seatbelt. That's also why, if you own a Tesla as well, you will have to keep it in your center console and not inside the glove box, since the glove box opening mechanism is also controlled by the car's computer.
Otherwise, for the price it's a bargain getting two of those tools. They are lightweight, small but also VERY efficient. Be careful not to press that black tip against your thumb, but instead only against the window you need to break. I know it looks like a button that you have to press, but that's actually where the spring loaded pin rest. Pressing that with your thumb may result in a not so good experience. Ask me how I know ???? - ETWNGood productGood product. Haven’t been in the situation to use but nice little one to keep in my car.
