If you take it to the dealership, they can charge you $100–$200 just to tighten the cap and clear the code. No thanks.
I tightened the cap, let her drive it for a couple days, but the light still wouldn’t go away. Instead of booking a service appointment, I grabbed this MOTOPOWER scanner for $19, delivered the next day. At that price, it was absolutely worth trying.
Plugging it into the OBD port took seconds, and the screen is simple enough that anyone can follow the directions. You can read the included manual or even check YouTube—either way, it’s straightforward.

- rcaEasy and simple code reader, well worth the money.This scan tool is perfect for finding simple codes and clearing them. We all know that there are codes we can deal with when you get home from a trip. We also know there are codes that shouldn't be left to deal with later as they could easily leave you sitting on the side of the road in the middle of no where. In Wyoming there is a LOT of no where so it's critical to know the difference. This scan tool reads codes quickly and accurately. I appreciate that it comes with a nice little bag to keep it in so it doesn't get scratched up sitting in the glove box or center console.
One other feature I appreciate is that it doesn't need any batteries. Putting batteries in one is no big deal. But if someone forgets to turn it off the next time you need it, you find it dead. - Rworks perfectly and at a great priceGreat little device with a nice little instruction manual. Worked perfectly and read all the codes for my car (2007 lexus is250) when it was throwing codes. Just wish this could also solve the (mechanical) issue, but it cant do that yet. At least it could tell me what the car was trying to tell me so then i could troubleshoot and research from there. A great device for the price. ($20)
