- Anna DerderianGentle and effectiveMy son is currently 3.5 months old, and we’ve been using these drops since he was about one month old. Our pediatrician recommended BioGaia up until around 4 months, when babies’ digestion typically matures.
While my son isn’t colicky, I’ve definitely noticed a positive difference in his digestion when we give this. He goes regularly every day, and it seems to help overall with gas, fussiness, and digestion. It’s reassuring knowing it can also help with colic and constipation if needed.
The dosage is very easy—just 5 drops once daily. We add it directly to his formula bottle with no issues. The bottle itself is small, but it lasts about 25 days with daily use, which is reasonable.
One thing to note is that the drops are oily, so if you wash bottles by hand, you’ll want to clean them well afterward. That said, our Baby Brezza bottle washing machine cleans everything perfectly with no residue.
Overall, we’re very happy with this product and plan to continue using it as recommended. Would definitely recommend to other parents looking for a gentle, pediatrician-recommended probiotic for their baby. - HoneyOnly heavily studied strain for improving constipation, not just gasI looked up something specifically for getting baby poo to be hydrated and not dry and clumpy or wet diarrhea. Because he was on Mary Ruth baby probiotics and they didn't help with anything at all. There's two strains that help with what I needed for my 6 week old that is combo fed but mostly on Enfamil Gentlease Neuropro Optimum at this point- and those are BB-12 and DSM 17938 probiotics. I only found the specific DSM strain in BioGaia and the other strain in Culturelle baby probiotics. However I think DSM is the one with strongest evidence.
So I paired the two. I gave him full doses of both on day 1 and he screamed his head off with gas from the bacteria colonizing in his gut. It was unfortunately the sacrifice I was willing to make to get his little gut healthier. Day 2 he was fussing after half dosing him with both, as I only full dosed to get things started. On day 2 his poop was not horrible dry paste anymore but it wasnt the best still. Day 3 poop changed to a better color and was more hydrated than day 2. No more shrieking from the probiotics. Day 4 his poop was soft serve and he barely had gas. He slept 4 hour stretches all night and didn't wake up in agony like he used to before the probiotics.
He has been getting half doses since day 2 and his stomach is so much better. I'm pleased with this product. Also daytime is better too, he isn't wailing from stomach pain anymore. I kind of wish I had done this from when he was born, I probably would have saved both of us grief.
Edit: he is 2 months old now with perfect yellow soft serve poop that's a bit seedy. He also has been fully formula fed for a while now, meaning the probiotics have his poop looking like BREASTMILK poop! That is amazing. 2 weeks worth of probiotics got his gut working great. He sleeps 5 hour stretches all night and doesn't wake up in terror with gas and his poop no longer looks like green dry paste. Once again I am giving him Culturelle AND this product at half doses everyday, not just biogaia.
Edit 3: 3.5 months and his poop is still yellow and seedy. And it smells like yogurt- lol. So these probiotics are key to keeping his poop perfect. It's gross but his poop is perfectly moist- it isn't watery and it isn't dry and nearly a matte chalk texture. My initial issue was his body just didn't hydrate his poop enough so he was constipated and in horrific pain, and it was pretty much solved within a month of using these with Culturelle. It is pricey though... but worth it. Also after a month of using he stopped having gas pains and he farts pretty efficiently now ???? - ????????????BEST OF THE BEST WORKED IN LESS THAN 10 mi.GREATTTTT
I know marketing is everywhere saying this work that work but this really does OMG I’d say 10 minutes is already working best for colic and gases, this is my 2nd time buying. - Abigail HutchingsMUST BUY!I usually don’t do reviews but I figured that I would write this so if there’s any desperate parents out there like I was, this is for you. My son has silent reflux and very terrible gas. It’s usually so bad it keeps him awake and he’s in so much pain he fights his sleep. I started to give him gas drops and I did notice a difference however it wasn’t significant enough to do the job. I started doing research and found that probiotics can help gas/colic/reflux. My son’s pediatrician recommended this one so I immediately ordered it. Now mind you, my son has been EXTREMELY fussy and upset the past 2 weeks. It’s been a serious struggle. Nothing I would do would calm him down. I started this product a week ago and give it to him for his first feeding of the day, and today exactly 7 days later I’ve seen the most remarkable improvements in him. He’s so much happier, comfortable, and just overall seems content. He wakes up happy and smiling, no screaming his head off, no arching his back, just all the symptoms he was having has been reduced by at least 70%. He’s taking naps again, like 3-4 hour naps during the day which I couldn’t get him to do anymore for nothing. But he’s seriously thriving. If you’re struggling with any of the things I just listed above, PLEASE give this stuff a shot! For reference, my son is almost 8 weeks old.
