- Mary K.An actual original vampire storyline!? Gasp!I have to admit, it was hard to start at first. I believe the 1700 prologue could have been left out, and some of the initial background and story in the start felt like I was getting lost in the weeds. BUT when past that part I fell in deep! The characters are so original and fun, I love the LGBTQ presence as it felt beautifully natural and not forced but empowering to see in YA literature (this coming from a cis hetero woman who is a community ally), and the story line was absolutely unique and kept me guessing at every turn. The only other thing I wish was that maybe the detail used in the front was instead worked into the ending when she went to the Sutton home. Especially leaning more on her gift returning. I felt like more could have been done with that. Overall, the ending felt a little rushed and I wanted to get to know those characters more and see Mia come into her own (albeit I know thats a lot to put into 'one day'). But to me that is a sign of some incredible character and story building, when I realized I couldn't get enough of them and the storyline! In the end, I LOVED the book and will be passing it to my daughter next, and anxiously awaiting a sequel! For your first book you absolutely knocked it out of the park Celina! BE PROUD! ????????

Hollow has a bit of an homage vibe to Teen Vampire fan favorites like Twilight, The Vampire Diaries, and the lore of Interview with the Vampire. As the prologue begins in the 1700s and establishes the concept of vampires, readers will jump into contemporary times for the remainder of the story as Mia, the FMC, transitions and adjusts to her life/not life and new “family” of vampires.
Hollow is Book 1 and does leave on an abrupt cliffhanger. Much of the book is story-building. It was interesting and entertaining overall. I’m curious to see what happens next. - Alia R. - SabrinaGreat story line, awful editing.Like so many others, I bought the book to support Celina. I had high hopes after how she described it in her videos. It's taken me longer than usual to get through a book of similar length because every time there was a issue with the writing I was pulled out of the world and hesitated to go back in. I enjoyed Mia's story, but this needed an editor. Errors ranged from the wrong use of word forms, to formatting problems, to plot inconsistencies. A character would leave the room, then still be there in the next paragraph. I don't know if the cliffhanger is enough to have me waiting for the sequel.
