  • nicely written and enlightening
I bought this book not knowing what to expect but having already done some serious research into various areas I was hoping to find out more about. I wasn't disappointed and found many of the ideas I was having overlapped but with a totally different spiritual application. The book helped give formal names for concepts such as paradoxes in complex decisions using what he calls profound logic using translogic and other interesting concepts such as Spiritual Quotient SQ associated with the right brain instead of IQ associated with left where both are needed to make the most Enlighted decision about metaphysical matters where IQ alone leaves one short. I had been making a series of my own short lectures on my website called threeinfinities.org to show how science is not the enemy of the Bible but in fact gives us many spiritual applications and can be used as a tool for enlightenment. Therefore, from that perspective I was excited about the material presented in the book and especially liked his application of two tuning forks to help someone understand their search to know God needed both ask His Spirit to enlighten them and be silent to accept His spiritual guidance (just like how a silent tune fork picks up the non-silent when put in close proximity). All in all, a great book with a neat love story of how him and his wife met and searched for truth together. His story resonated with me since in ways it was similar to my own about how science was my youthful fascination, but his thoughtfully intense search humbled me as it took God lighting a fire under me to open my eyes in a dream before I finally realized my need to change. But my change was also dramatic from a destructive path to one that found me several degrees later being an engineer, college instructor, and now serving in various ministries with a chaplain license.
  • Favorite Book This Year!
This was my favorite read this year, a blending of wonderfully explained scientific and mathematical truths with faith-based questions and beliefs.
  • Excellent read
I don't agree with everything presented, it gets slightly long winded in sections, and corny in others. Criticisms aside, I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking to expand their world view. The author does a really good job of giving you enough info on the scientific topic without going over the head of the average Joe (me on a good day). He also does a good job of this on the religious side. Overall, a very interesting read, I've already purchased the physical book as well in case I can convince any friends to look at it.
  • Interesting Science Facts with Novel Concepts about Science and Christianity
A Physicist Explains How Science Shattered His Atheism and Revealed the Necessity of Faith” by Michael Guillen, Ph.D. Tyndale House Publishers, Inc., 2021.

A very intriguing book, especially Michael Guillen’s rather unique and refreshing style for presenting deep scientific and religious concepts effectively in an almost conversational person-to-person way.
As such, his conversationally-led journey from a narrow secular Scientific Perspective (i.e., Scientism Worldview) to his much broader, more-balanced and much more satisfying faith-based worldview of Science that also encompasses a firm belief in Creation by Design, a Creator & Designer – God includes sharing his carefully-considered reasons for accepting the Christian Faith.

The way he applies the known science concerning the Human Brain and its Left-Half (LH) and the Right-Half (RH) which are publicly understood to reflect a balance between Logic and Emotion are presented in a very unique and interesting way to form a broader & wiser worldview that encompasses both science and religion.

His central point is that both Science and Religion are Faith-Based and he proceeds to effectively demonstrate and support his position.

He discusses how the Science of Today with its amazing progress & discoveries such as the proven & confirmed “Big Bang Theory” by the Hubble & COBE Satellites along with the remarkable advances in our detailed understanding of microbiology and the cell, etc. have broadened the scope of what should be considered to be open-minded scientific curiosity and discovery whether or not they can be seen or proven.

Even secular scientism today is based on many assumptions and axioms that have not and often cannot be proven. As a highly-qualified and experienced multi-disciplinary scientist, he provides many excellent examples of known science and how they relate to a belief in God as well as how both are faith-based on beliefs. Hence, his book’s title: “Believing is Seeing” that underscores the role of faith as providing an improved path to open-minded scientific discovery than the narrower and traditional “Seeing is Believing” science dictum.

Christian Evangelists may find this book very intuitive as well as useful as a way to reach those (and there are many) with a Secular & Scientific Worldview. His journey, as told by Michael Guillen, Ph.D., a prominent and highly qualified scientist from a Atheistic and secular scientific worldview to a much broader Christian worldview provides an excellent & explained example they might relate and follow.

Starting from the non-believer’s current worldview may, in some cases, be a much more effective approach than the traditional starting point at the Cross or somewhere in the middle of the Christian Story.

In conclusion, an excellent book with interesting science facts for the general public with novel concepts about the relationship between Science and Christianity.
  • The Factual Science Behind the Existance of God Dr. Guillen former Harvard Physics Proffessor
I absolutely love this book. Easy to read and Professor/ Dr. Guillen makes it easy to understand Science and the quotes from other Scientists. I highly recommend this book to any person who says; "Does Science prove God's Existence!" Well yes it does, if you look at it without the preconceived conclusion! I highly recommend this for any Public School Science Teacher, College Professor or Student of Science in High School or College. Let the Science also speak for God!
  • Fascinating!
I am not typically interested in anything having to do with Science or Math, but this book caught my eye- and I am so glad! I have been absorbing this book and learning so much in the process. I appreciate that Guillen didn’t water down the complexity of science, math, and logic to reconcile it with the simplicity of the deep truths of faith and spirituality. I was challenged in reading this, but rewarded with many “aha!” moments as the words of the book clicked in my brain. I can’t wait to share it with many of the smarter people in my life who are also Christians and will enjoy this stimulating and fascinating defense of the role of faith in science.
