- Hollie Reads RomanceBasketball greatnessI have to start this review off by saying that I am a born and raised Hoosier who has been a Larry Bird fan since my birth. I had really high expectations from this book and I wasn’t disappointed. While O’Brien was unable to secure an interview with Bird, it is obvious that he spent a lot of time with his interviews and research and this book didn’t suffer. If you’re an old school basketball fan, you’re going to love this book as it does a great job of covering all aspects of the 1979 Sycamore team and how they got to where they got. I personally had a few sections that felt slower to me but overall found the book to have a forward momentum that made me keep coming back to see what else would be revealed. This book gave me a great respect for the hick from French Lick and will be my go to gift for basketball lovers and sports fans in general.
