  • A (Rideout)Strong First Impression!
Just received The Other Side of Hard by Ken Rideout today and already felt compelled to leave a quick review. Even from the opening chapters, it’s clear this book is about much more than fitness or toughness—it’s about mindset, discipline, and the quiet work required to push through difficult moments. Rideout writes in a very direct, honest way that feels authentic rather than preachy.

If you’re interested in personal growth, resilience, or just enjoy stories from someone who has spent a lot of time testing his own limits, this looks like it will be a great read. Looking forward to digging further into it. ????☘️
  • This Book Made Me Want to Run Through a Wall!
This is the most inspiring book I’ve read in a very very long time! Thank you, Ken, for sharing your incredible story. It really shows what’s possible if you’re willing to do whatever it takes. I feel like I could run through a wall right now. Let‘s go!!
  • Just Don’t Quit
Ken Rideout is a living legend. And his story shows what is possible with indomitable will and relentless perseverance to push to through pain. Most helpful book I’ve read in a while.
  • Must read!!
Motivational, inspiring, but most of all, REAL. I’ve always admired Ken for his dedication and committment but this book really takes us along for the ride. Highly reccomend!!!!
  • Verdict: 5/5 stars. This book is the real thing: earned, gritty, and deeply motivating
What makes this book stand out from other redemption stories is Rideout's refusal to romanticize the struggle. He doesn't pretend the "hard" is glamorous or that willpower alone is enough—he shows the ugly days, the relapses, the moments of total despair, and then the quiet, stubborn decision to get back up anyway. His mantra ("Win—or die trying") isn't bravado; it's survival math.

In a world full of quick-fix inspiration, this book is the real thing: earned, gritty, and deeply motivating. Read it if you're ready to stop waiting for permission to become who you're capable of being.
  • Best memoir ever!
Listened to this as soon as it hit my library. Best memoir I’ve ever listened to. Amazingly honest story of resilience and determination written by a fantastic story teller and an even better human being who beat the odds and overcame everything that life threw at him. You’ll be entertained and truly inspired!!
  • Best Running book since Born to Run!
Ken opened himself up raw for the first part of this and then brought the goods when detailing all of his running achievements became the focus. I felt like I was there with him. What a beast!
