  • Entertaining and Funny!
This book is a delightful and practical read for anyone interested in survival tips, with a healthy dose of humor to keep it light-hearted! How To Survive A Freakin’ Bear Attack isn’t just a collection of tips on how to fend off wild animals, though; it covers a wide range of survival situations, from how to escape quicksand to what to do if you’re stuck in an elevator.

The author does an excellent job of mixing real survival knowledge with a cheeky, tongue-in-cheek style that makes each section fun to read. You’ll find yourself laughing while also learning practical tricks you may never have considered before. It’s clear that the book was written with both fun and usefulness in mind.

The tips are organized in a way that’s easy to understand and even easier to remember. Plus, it’s full of illustrations and anecdotes that make it feel like you’re having a conversation with a survival expert who doesn’t take themselves too seriously.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves quirky survival guides or just wants to be better prepared for the weirdest, most outlandish situations life could throw at you. It’s both entertaining and surprisingly useful – I’ve already shared a few survival hacks with friends!
  • Solutions to ‘what-ifs’ from a wise and helpful guide
Bill O’Neill (aka Trivia Bill) never ceases to amaze! He has enhanced our knowledge of the world with his many books on all sports trivia, unexplained mysteries, interesting stories, Hollywood secrets, the CIA, little known facts about WW I & II, the Civil War, and the Korean and Vietnam wars, inventions, many countries and states, rock and roll, the Titanic, decades of madness, famous ‘badass’ figures of history, and more and more. Now he steps up with a Survival Guide – hardly trivial! - but just as interesting and informed and accessible as his other very popular books.

Reading this book is akin to having a personal guardian who just appears when things get strange or tough, bits of info that can avert potential disasters, such as extinguishing a fire (and building a fire!), surviving a night on a mountain, fixing a broken bone or sterilize a wound or restart a heart, making a tourniquet, gutting and cleaning a fish, surviving a meteor crash, making a life preserver, a slingshot, a makeshift canoe, hot wiring an engine, surviving an earthquake or snow storm or wildfire, how to escape from zip ties or a straightjacket, how to pick a lock or smash a window or land a plane – the list goes on and on with 127 topics well described in Bill’s user friendly technique. As the world grows crazier by the day, with natural and man-made crises, this little handbook belongs in everyone’s hip pocket – or purse – or backpack – or glove compartment…Very Highly Recommended!!!!!

    Great fun!
  • Good fun book for all
This survival book is perfect for any child or young teen… Really it’s fun for anybody, I myself enjoyed it! My youngest son is in Boy Scouts and he goes camping every month and this is a nice book to read around the fire with the rest out the troop plus it really does have good tips for survival hacks!
  • Simplistic
It’s an easy read and my son and I have enjoyed reading it together mostly because we giggle at the spelling and grammar mistakes. Not to mention the common sense advice like using dry wood to start a fire or using the brakes to stop a train. It also suggests derailing a train to stop it and while this might be a necessity in extreme situations, it’s not something the average person would do. It frequently suggests avoiding a dangerous situation instead of what to do if you find yourself in it. So, don’t expect many stunning revelations in it.
