Infant Optics DXR-8 Video Baby Monitor with Interchangeable Optical Lens
I have had the DXR-8 for about 18 months. Works amazing!...It was so good, that I decided to purchase the wide angle lens. My review is below:
Pros
- Easy Setup, just have to "link" camera unit to hand held unit, took about 2 minutes
- Clarity, in the dark, you can clearly see the crib and baby, its black and white in the dark, but when the light comes on its color.
- Can Zoom in if needed as well as PAN, TILT, etc...amazing!
- Changing lens out is basically like screwing in a light bulb...super easy
- Distance!...we live on the third floor, and I have taken the hand held unit all the way to the mailboxes, which is downstairs, outside, about 150 feet away....and it still has signal....between walls, elevator, and sidewalk. However as soon as I pass the mailboxes, then it looses signal...but 150 feet is pretty good.
Cons

Amazing Customer Service!
- Basically last week, the battery was not holding the charge. So i contacted customer service, they suggested few methods and that did not work. Gladys one of the CSR, stated that i was out of the warranty period, HOWEVER they were willing to replace unit. I just had to ship them my old one!. BUT again, here is the con - My wife can not live without it! - so I could not send my old one back because it would be a couple of days we would not have a monitor. So I mentioned this to Gladys, and within 24 hours, she replied back to me stating they were sending me a replacement, and that they were trusting me to send my unit back. WOW!, who does that nowadays!. That blew my mind. I had to write a review!. I had to give this company props!...Anyway, I received the replacement yesterday and connected it. Works Great!...and Yes I shipped my old unit out today! :)
Lastly, ironically, on the news today I heard all these fake reviews that have been hitting Amazon lately, and I want to say, this is not Fake, I am actually an owner of the DXR-8 camera as well as the wide angle lens. I DID NOT GET PAID TO DO THIS REVIEW!. I just wanted to let people know what a GREAT COMPANY this is and what an awesome CSR Gladys was. - JessicaWide view for cribThis lens helps us to be able to see the whole crib with our infant optics camera. Does not change the video quality at all. Easy install.
- baileyrose113Exactly what I needed!The difference in the field of view is crazy! This $12 lens saved me from buying a whole new monitor and camera system. I didn’t like letting my kids play in their room while I got things done around the house cause they would always end up out of frame. This lens can see even wider than the floor. I will say, the single zoom in is about the original FOV without the wide angle, but the quality when zooming in does degrade with each zoom. SO happy with my purchase!
- LanieGreat addition to cameraWe’ve been using this camera for a while and when my daughter decided she wasn’t going to nap anymore we wanted a wide angle camera so we could keep an eye on her when she was having quiet time. This works great and was super affordable. My only complaint is that now when trying to have it just on my daughter's bed at night, that the image is a bit blurry but it doesn’t make sense to unmount the camera and take the lense off each time. Overall, would definitely buy this again and will for my other daughter when the time comes.

- MichaelGame changerOur newest family addition’s crib was not as tall as their sibling’s. So the Infant Optics camera, which is zoomed quite tight into the crib didn’t work well. This wide lens does a very good job opening the picture with minimal to no distortion, that I can make out.
