- SpencerViltrox 15mm 1.7, 56mm 1.7, 85mm f2 FEI purchased the viltrox 15mm 1.7, viltrox 56mm 1.7, and 85mm f2 EVO FE.
Viltrox 15mm 1.7: Great lens, fantastic for the price, great quality! Sharp enough for my needs and lightweight. Great walk around wide lens and great for night time. Great for vlogging. I watched YouTube reviews on it which were favorable, I'm happy with my purchase.
Viltrox 56mm 1.7
Light weight like the 15mm. Great walk around portrait lens. Very impressed with the quality for the price, very sharp.
Viltrox 85mm f2 EVO FE
Heavier with superior build quality than the 15 & 56. Decently sharp lens. I bought it at $275 before they dropped the price, but I still feel like I got a good deal on it. Bokeh is nice but not quite as dreamy as other lenses that are over $1000 (as to be expected for the price point). Autofocus is fast and silent. Great value for the price as is the same for all viltrox lenses. - FAQFantastic Lens & Great ValueI’m really impressed with the Viltrox 50mm f/1.4 Pro FE lens. It looks great, performs even better, and delivers sharp images with beautiful bokeh. I saved a lot of money choosing this over the Sony GM equivalent, and I don’t feel like I sacrificed anything in terms of quality. Shipping was prompt and the lens arrived right on time. The seller even reached out with a thank‑you note, which I thought was a very thoughtful touch. Highly recommended.
- MiamiOneUpdated review-After taking this out a few times, I rate it 'excellent' for quality and value!I'm updating this bargain lens to five stars, now that I've taken more photographs with it. This wide angle for less than $200 is perfect for my needs. Eliminates me having to do multiple shots with a 28mm lens and stitch them together. You can see a little aberration at the edge. Plus with a protective filter it encroaches on the corners. But that is minor.
Update-12dec2025 - I finally took this lens out for a test run. I am amazed at how much more of the scenery I can capture in one shot, versus stitching two shots together when using my 28-70mm lens.
However, I've noticed three things, which are NOT a dealbreakers-
1. My camera's autofocus does not lock onto the subject as well, at night, regardless of the mode (center, zone or point focus). Sometimes it just won't lock on. I have to go into manual mode.
2. I noticed a dark area in the corners of the frame. Realized that because of its great wide angle, the rim of the protective filter that I immediately put on the lens, is what is obscuring that part of the picture frame. Which means I have to remove the filter, or I will have to crop a little bit.
3. As stated this lens is NOT weather seals, so I carry a protective cloth, which I keep covering the lens with when I am out in inclement weather.
Other than that, it is very lightweight and does a decent job. Here are a few shots I did with it today on a wet rainy day.
My main lens is a 28-70mm Sony. However, I have always having to stitch two images together to get the angle wide enough. This Viltrox at less than $200, was rated highway on you tube for its value. So I purchased it on sale here at Amazon for about $160, which left me enough money to by a sky filter and a metal hood and keep the price less than $200. It is F4, so it is not meant to be great for indoor shots. But I will shoot outdoors today.
So far, I'm pretty satisfied with it for indoor shooting. - CrescentFDVery impressive, sharp with dreamy bokehThis is my 4th viltrox lens and 1st of their pro level lenses. I have their 15 1.7, 56 1.7, 85 2.0 EVO, and recently purchased the 56 1.2 Pro to go with my Sony a6400.
The my cheaper viltrox 56 1.7 was good, but the bokeh was not as dreamy as what I’m used to coming from Nikon full frame 85mm lens. I was considering giving up on Sony crop body when I found video reviews of the viltrox 56 1.2 with comparisons to the sigma 56. In tests of sharpness, vignetting, chromatic aberration, the viltrox performed very well. The viltrox has excellent build quality and optical performance. Focus hunting was ok. Lens is very sharp at all distances. The bokeh is really why I bought this lens and it delivers. Built quality and weather sealing are very impressive. One interesting note: i was already warned in video reviews that there is a moving element within the lens that slides front to back when you tilt the lens. I don’t notice anything when I’m shooting, but when you’re holding the lens don’t worry if you feel it. Overall I’m impressed and happy with my purchase! - Watermelon AssassinPunches above its weight. Great value.Love it. My clients love the photos I take with this lens. I get lots of oohs and aahs. Photos are sharp and bokeh is dreamy. Build quality is excellent and it just feels premium in the hand. I pair it with a Sony A7RV.
The privacy of my clients prevents me from sharing some photo samples but trust me... they're nice! I like a good lens that makes me look more talented than I am.
