- RangerYIt works great on my trip, I will repurchase in the future. This data only SIM card for China worked fine for me. The card comes with clear instructions, a pin tool for pulling out your sim card slot, and the new sim in multiple sizes. This card included 100 mB of data use for one day in North America. This gave me enough time to insert the sim card, change my settings to "roam" and use data from this card before my trip. Once in China, after inserting this sim card, it found a connection immediately. This access to cell signals was very good most of the time. There were several times when in Tibet that I could not get a connection while on the road between larger towns. Even when on the road while in Tibet, it did get access because I found we messages on my DM platform at the same time, while at an "Everest base camp" on the Tibet side, other tourist were able to get a signal, when I could not. Overall, I'm very happy with the performance of this card and I will purchase it again in the future. It is probably cheaper to buy a Chinese Voice/data sim card from CHINA Telecom, but that would me factoring in time in your travel schedule to fine a China Telecom store to get the sim card.
- MarcusEasy to use!Having these on our trip was very nice, saved us the cost and hassle of trying to find a data plan when we land. They worked very well for the entire trip. Note that you can't make normal phone calls but you can using apps like Google Voice or whatsapp.
Easy to install. It really was as easy as just inserting them and they work, as the instructions said! I was very grateful for that ease of use. No signing up online or installing special apps or anything they just worked. - beebop2of 4 DOA, remaining 2 dead after 2 days.Update April 5,2023
After 2 days, the remaining 2 (30 day 15G SIM card) that initially worked also got disconnected and China Mobile shows up as the network. I know I did not use up the 15G of data because I got an eSIM from SingTel Airalo, and I used 500M in 2 days on the SingTel network. I am lucky that I still have a slow cell data service and have international data. Albeit at the unbearable speed of 256kb. It was my life line to get the Airalo data service that delivers eSIM card online.
If you have to use a physical SIM card, get the 15 day ones and not the 30 day ones. The 15 day SIM cards worked all the way to the end of my trip.
Original review …
The SIM cards worked like a charm when they do. I bought 6, installed 4. 2 worked on power up. Good. Not the same for the other 2. The other 2 connected briefly and got kicked off. “iPhone not activated Contact you carrier if this problem continues to occur”. It looked like to me that the SIM card is not authorized to work in Japan. So I checked the carrier. And it says China Mobile (in Chinese). Of course these 2 wouldn’t work! It would work in China! So this is a packaging problem. They we mixing up SIM card from the wrong country! Luckily, I bought two extra as backups. The other backup SIM cards (15 day 10G) worked just as expected. - AMPhone sim cardThese worked well. I purchased 3 and had issues with one. The support staff helped with in a day or two fix the issue. The coverage was good all over Ireland. With the cards that worked out of the package it was as simple to setup as the directions stated. They worked in Apple and Android phones. I would purchase this item again from this company.
- KPGive it a tryWorked great for me. I activated it in Nicaragua and used it mostly in Costa Rica. The only problem I had was that when I landed in Costa Rica it didn't work anymore. It turns out I just needed to restart my phone. One nice thing I found was that it would connect to multiple cell services so I had better coverage as a result. The cost per GB of data is very competitive. Activation was a breeze because there really is no activation procedure. Once the SIM is installed it automatically activates as soon as it connects to a network that it works with. I hear you can buy SIM cards at the airport when you reach Costa Rica. I never looked, but I very much doubt you will find as good a deal. Airports are not known for their bargain prices. Plus it's nice to just land and have service rather than have one extra hassle on arrival.
- TeenAit worksthe one that was not useful was the pin it came with to pull the sim card tray out, it did not work for me, the receptionist at the hotel I was staying at used a paper clip to to pull the sim card tray out,
- sim card works perfectly, the directions were clear. was able to use data only throughout my stay. - ChyangggWorks great for Costa RicaGot the Costa Rica 30 day card for a week long trip there. It worked absolutely great!!
Upon arriving at the Costa rica Airport, these are steps I took:
1. I turned off my phone
2. Switched out my original Sim card with the Costa rica Sim card
3. Restarted my phone
4. Went to my phone's settings for "Data Roaming" and turned it on
5. Within the seconds the data & Sim card was working.
You do get a text from a UK phone/data/Sim card company which is where the Sim card is from. But ignore it as it isn't that relevant since it talks about your call/texting service which I didn't have, just the data. I was right in San Jose so Data was always great, I did not venture out further of the city to test its coverage though.
