  • In-Win support is amazing!
    The IW-RF100S-S265 chassis is perfect for tight spaces without sacrificing build quality. Easy to install Mini-ITX boards and good airflow make it ideal for rackmount setups. Highly recommended for small server builds! In-win support is also amazing!
  • Surprises for all the good reasons.
    First off, good job InWin for all the right reasons.

    Lets go through all the awesome minor quality of life implements they did that most other 1U's bare chassis do not:

    1) PSU is moddable, that's right, you can easily put a Noctua 40mmx20mm FLX in that included low watt Flex PSU (wiring cuts still required). REMEMBER: TAKE ALL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN WORKING WITH POWER SUPPLIES!

    2) Reversible, not just for the rack mount, I also mean for the front buttons+usb and psu switching positions. And the USB front mount can then again be reversed too internally for cable management, biggest plus ever.

    3) Don't be confused, it supports 2x 3.5 HDD AND 2x 2.5 HDD/SSD at the same time, making 4 total. Those caddies are 3.5+2.5 stack hybrids, each supports one 3.5 on top and another 2.5 under it. Turn this easily into NAS with 4 drives total. Which I plan to do, but now I get to use 2 more storage drives than expected. If you can find the right 3.5 adapter you could have 6x 2.5 SSD's in total.

    4) Comes with 2 of the 3 oddly semi-hotswappable high CFM fans. They didn't have to be quick-removed but hey, awesome. I didn't test the noise, because I don't plan on running them. I was just surprised how easily I could remove the apparatus when they were all quite snug.

    5) Front USB is 3.x, not 2.0, it's 2024, USB2 should die out as 1.1 did.

    6) Solid construction. There is a bit of a mix of aluminum for the minor stuff, but the mounting brackets are pure steel, and the main chassis feels like rolled steel with support ridges in all the right places.

    7) True short depth, put it with network gear on a 2-post rack or wall mount. It is described on the box, a little under 10".

    Downsides:
    1) No expansion slot, not even a cut out. So don't even try to mod one in, it'll be a mess. I understand why they did it, because I have the iStarUSA 1U chassis it mimics, and that ungodly PCIe mounting on a modular short depth 1U chassis is truly a pain. However, if they made their own daughter riser integrated into a variant design that would be awesome, or just give us an multi-port RJ45/Serial/VGA breakout and mounting options for that space, and we'll deal with the motherboard/M.2 adapter cards to run it there. Lost 2 stars after gaining an extra one for the reversibility, but the motherboard would have to carry all the RJ45/Serial ports, not the expansion slot. So reversing is only decent if you have a motherboard worth to do so. There are not a lot of options that can be easily purchased through consumer means, and most the ones meant for network or storage specific to the short-depth use-case, are DC19V/12V.

    2) No loss of a star. Flex PSU fan noise is Flex PSU fan noise, reason why I modded mine. I can't dock it stars for that, because Flex PSU's are expected to deliver reliable power regardless of noise.

    3) Nitpick, no loss of a star, but no USB C on front panel. I really wish 1U manufacturers get with the times on this.
  • good short depth case
    Good points
    * well constructed
    * good low-power psu
    * effective fan configuration for motherboard

    Things to notice
    * fan configuration does not exhaust the entire case. This is a major problem for reversible cases.
    * Like all 1U cases, the case is not compatible with ATX I/O shields, there just isn't enough height. While IN-WIN does provide I/O shields for some common port configurations, there is a good chance that your unique board won't have the same port configuration. (Somebody please come up with a solution!)
    * Standoffs are short, so you might need spacers for the standoffs. I wish it came with standoff spacers.
  • Does not fit standard M-ITX IO plate
    Chassis is well built but cannot accommodate a standard M-ITX IO plate. Comes with one 40x40x20 YateLoon 3-pin fan and a Power Man 80+ Bronze PSU. It is a raw metal finish. Would be five stars if the description stated the IO opening size.
  • Great case! Except io plate size
    This is a great compact 1u server case! I have ubiquiti hardware and wanted something that matched their styling and this was a great fit. Added a nas mobo (fanless n305 CPU ) with 2x 3.5HDD and everything fit great (tight tho) and temperatures are solid!

    Downside as others noted you can't use a standard io plate. I ended up making my own via 3D printing, which was
    a pain - but worth it as everything else with this case and psu is 5/5 stars!
