- JoshuaGreat buyI am impressed, this was definitely worth the money. Outstanding support was given. On arrival, the box was heavily damaged ripped so bad i could put both hands at the same time into the box and touch the server. I fault UPS for not understanding the word "FRAGILE". Minor damage occurred as a result of them just throwing this box around. All of the empty drive holders were either shoved into the server breaking one, or they were hanging out it looked rough. but it was an easy fix minus the broken one. Not the sellers fault by any means. On inspection the inside of the server was very clean and well taken care of by the previous owner. I moved all my cisco equipment and put the heavy beast at the bottom of the stack, then my HP prolient, Cisco 2960 switch and my Cisco ASA. I configured the raid 10 then loaded Windows Server 2019. THe End of life for this server was 2014 so it didnt go past windows server 2016 for support wise. I downloaded a cab file from dell and installed the needed drivers manually. However Win server 2019 installed most everything for me. Just because a machine doesnt go past windows server 2016 doesnt mean you cant operate newer versions on it, it just mean that Dell tested the System server Up too windows 2016. Its most likely with newer versions. The server is running smooth, and I will deploy it to joshuajent.com soon, I have more configurations to make first. Thanks to the seller please swap to FEDEX or have a come to Jesus with UPS because this could have been much worse. THanks again!!
- Larry GeradsDoesn't last longOne disk bay was dead when I got it - couldn't return as the I needed it but only needed 18 bays anyway. Now, the drive plane just randomly errors with Backplane 1 of Integrated RAID Controller 1 was reset. Moved the raid drive set to another server and they work fine.
- Thomas SchererIdeal platform for SAN/NAS or HCII use these servers as ESXi hosts, bare metal Kubernetes nodes and Nutanix AHV hosts. They come configured with 816GB DDR3 dimms. These can be easy upgraded to 384 GB of ram. They can also be upgraded with e5-26xxv2 cpus for higher core count. The embedded H710 controller supports hardware based RAID 1,10,5 and 6. I crossflash the HBA to OEM Avago/LSI/Broadcom HBAs. This turns it into a 9207-8i adapter. I do this to support software storage solutions like Rook/ceph, VSAN or Nutanix storage (based on HDFS). They servers look brand new and are free of dust. They have been running nonstop for over a year.

In absence of product description, I put my faith in what reviewers were saying. So far all the drives check out and initial testing is positive.
- Glen HuffExcellent MachineAs a renewed machine, I knew I wasn’t getting something brand new. The outsides had scratch marks that show some wear and tear.
But, it booted up fine. All 10x drives lit up green. Both power supplies are kicking. It’s not too noisy.
Came exactly as advertised. 2x cpus. 16 cores (32 virtual) I attached a screenshot showing all being utilized as I put a stress test on it. 128gb ram. 10x 600gb HHD’s with room for 15 more.
One of the reasons I sought out this machine was having support for Ubuntu. I installed Ubuntu 20.04 on the server and currently have a LEMP setup running a website. Runs flawlessly. Great machine. Didn't boot, till replaced power supply from spare server.

Update: a full year since purchase and still running strong no issues love it!! - Marianot shiny new but worksServer R720XD arrived with bent mounting ear and server chassis was beat up a lot more than expected. Seller send out replacement mounting ear. All hardware passed diag test upon arrival.
