- RavenA good starter KindleThis Kindle is small enough to hold with one hand it’s pretty light. The screen quality is really good. Feels like I’m reading a book not a computer screen and I like how they added dyslexia font to all kinds so now I can read a lot better and I like how you can borrow library books, and put it on the Kindle. and the battery life is wonderful for long trips and this kindle is good for taking anywhere, it’s easy to use and the price is not that bad for an E reader perfect for people who don’t want to spend a lot of money for a Kindle. This was my first Kindle until I upgrade it to the colorsoft Kindle. but if you’re not reading comic books or graphic novels, this Kindle is a good one for any one who wants to try Kindle. The only thing I do not like with the Kindle program is the trade-in value sucks. so I just end up keeping the Kindle I’ve already bought. But that’s my only complaint about the Kindle. I get better trade-in for my Apple iPad from Apple but Amazon does not give you a good trade and value towards a new one which is why I hardly ever upgrade, but the book selection is wonderful. You can use it with your local library using Libby Goodreads is connected to it. Amazon needs to look into another program because Goodreads sucks. I like how Kendall gives you encouragement to read every day and it will ask you how many books you want to read in a year and tell you your progress and I really like that and I like how people with dyslexia can now read more comfortably if you just want to read books this is a great starter Kindle
- Esther R. WeissGREAT KINDLEWhat a great size - this Kindle fits into a purse - it's light and easy to use. Everything is legible - you can adjust the light to your comfort
- deannabetter than the paperwhite!battery life update as of 12/1/25: I can last a whole single charge for one month! it’s always in airplane mode and the bluetooth is turned off. hope this helps :)
After owning the Oasis and Paperwhite (10th gen), I can say this is the PERFECT kindle if you're looking for a smaller, lighter and faster kindle. The matcha color is perfect - I know some may not care about colors but this is the best one yet. The size is perfect to put into a small purse (think small Telfar, small crescent Baggu, or shoulder bag type of situation). I don't really notice too much that the screen isn't flush with the kindle so that doesn't bother me at all. You really can't tell that's it's not 100% flushed with the screen (unlike the paperwhites). What I really love is the size and weight - I'm a side sleeper so I tend to do the majority of my reading at night on my side. The compact weight makes it easy to read with one hand only and not being too heavy. You can also cradle this in one hand/palm and I am just a girl. I think the only difference this and the paperwhite has is 1) it's not waterproof 2) the warm lighting which, personally, I don't notice too much since I prefer for it to be on dark mode even in the day. The Oasis had the warm lighting but I didn't see that big huge of a difference. I felt like it drained my battery and I usually try to keep all the settings off to extend my battery. I always have it on airplane mode - so far, I can't discuss much about the battery since I just purchased it this week. I don't think there will be an issue since my 2019 paperwhite will last a couple of weeks with no charge on airplane mode. The price point is also way better than the Paperwhite only at $109 with ads. Sometimes you can catch it on sale for even less (I've seen it at $89 before!!!). So if you're thinking of upgrading or even wanting something new, I say it's 100000% worth the purchase. - Amy LanasaSo easy on your eyesIt's my first Kindle, so I can't compare it to past iterations, but I can tell you it's delightful. Operating it is very intuitive, and simple. The crisp and clear text is just like reading from paper honestly, and it doesn't matter what lighting conditions you're in, it's comfortable to read on. When reading it in a dark room, it's just right- not too dim, and not too bright. In daylight, it's just as easy to see as a document on white paper. It's light, and thin, fits easily into a pocket. The battery life is insane- even though it's backlit, and has a fairly large screen, it's battery can last for weeks. It is possible to drain it in just several days, but that is reading for several hours each day. Also, it charges very quickly.
Again, I can't tell you how it compares to other readers as this is my first to own... But I can tell you that it's extremely nice to read on. I was one of those who are reluctant to give up tangible books, who prefers paper over a glass screen. My new Kindle changed my opinion though. It's less bulky than a book, can hold a whole library to take on a cruise, or anywhere, and it really is just as nice to read as though it were printed paper.
Lastly, I got mine in the sage green color- it was available in my favorite color! - i_readerA great way to readI thoroughly enjoy reading on this Kindle, as I have with all of the paper white models that I have used. I like this size a lot for reading novels and other non-illustrated books. I love the light weight, the crisp screen and the long battery life. I wish that they were not so sluggish when you navigate the menus and the store or when you tap on a word to look it up. This latest one is also considerably slower to wake up from sleep than my previous ones were. I can easily put up with a bit of sluggishness at this price point, though, and it is not bothersome at all when just turning the pages of the book. Overall, this is a nicely balanced reader.
- lvwed716A great travel device. This kindle is the perfect size for on the go use or everyday use. It fits perfectly in my small backpack sling purse. The battery life is great. Page turning is quick. Very easy to read in many light conditions. Brightness can be changed in the settings. I love it so much; I bought it as a gift for a family member this Christmas.
- Moss BlissNice, light, long lifeThis replaces a Fire 8 2024. Battery life is much better. Sometimes I miss the color in the book covers. But this is so much lighter and easier to hold and reading is very clear. And the color matches my planner! I wasn't even expecting that.
