The only thing I had to do after inserting this adapter for the first time was click “Allow” in the pop-up window to allow my MBP to use the adapter. Other than that it has been working great.
I needed this to test my “1 gb” connection from my internet service provider (ISP). I can say it does transfer more than a 1gb, as I saw about 1.1-1.2gb down and upload speeds using Speedtest connected directly to my router/gateway. However, I CANNOT confirm if this does up to 2.5 gb (hence the 4 stars). I bought this in case I do switch to a 2.5 gb service plan in the future. Within seconds, I was online with a stable, full-speed wired connection.
Performance has been excellent. I’m consistently seeing speeds that match my ISP’s rated service, with noticeably lower latency compared to Wi-Fi. This makes a real difference for video calls, large file transfers, and any situation where connection drops are frustrating.
