- C WritingsUber does actually charge the uber gift card (uber cash) and the bank account. (Double - Dip)I don't think I've ever left a bad review in my life. The seller might not know this; however, I went through my charges, as I noticed both my Uber gift card balance was draining really fast, and my bank account was getting charged. BUT. Not on all purchases.
I do not recommend using Uber cash or gift cards with that app, because it 's like throwing money in a black hole, (or time fixing the problem.)
Check your receipts, other form of payments, each and every time. If you need to look into the past, you can go to uber.com and download all of your receipts (one at a time, so if you uber a lot like I do, it will take forever...) google how to get to the receipts (on computer or on your app,) it'll give an easy step-by-step to do so.
Match them up with your bank account, ESPECIALLY if you have used this gift card for certain rides. I tried to contact them through the app, but they kept auto-responding with, "we do a pending charge, just to blah blah blah... but you will see it disappear."
I went through the past one year, one month I have been using my current account - those pending charges were not pending. They stuck.
Only, the funny thing is, only some of them do it, and not others - seems to be mostly on the smaller trips (interesting, as one might not notice smaller trips. Huh. Interesting.)
Anyway, it's the app, it's probably not the merchant. It's a waste of money, however. Why? Because you're double paying. It takes even the tip both off of the card balance (uber cash in the app) and also out of the bank account.
I'm am stunned. A piece of advice. If you cannot reconcile with Uber, (good luck,) you can call your bank. I'm calling them to ask what to do, (whichever one I used for whichever transaction.)
There is either a glitch in their app, or they're taking advantage of people who would never notice. Either way, they need to fix it and reconcile all fo the money people have knowingly or unknowingly lost, because this is just ridiculous.
