- Hard ScrabbleBetter than a credit card for a payment method!!!It works well. Last year I had a problem with Google not refunding a double billing on my credit card. Issue never resolved. Lucky for me, credit card expired before they could renew both subscriptions for one Youtube Premium. After subscription lapsed, I discovered I could use a Gift card for Google Payment method. Problem solved. No more credit cards hostage situations for me. GOOGLE platform effectively externalizes the cost of mistakes onto users: double billings, mis‑assigned subscriptions, and accidental charges can be hard to contest, which means people often give up and absorb the loss. It's by design. The lack of accessible, human billing support suggests that revenue protection and cost minimization in support operations are prioritized over user satisfaction and error correction. Avoid tying your credit card to these Oligarchs and Robber Barrons. Use Gift cards for payment methods where ever possible. I even learned to use Gift cards for my Amazon purchases.

Every time I buy one, (This is the third time this has occurred to me) my account balance gets locked after redeeming the code and making a purchase. Ill go to make second purchase with plenty of balance remaining, and get errors and told I need to fill out forms and verify the card. Meaning, I have to go through a wait period as google verify the where and how I got the card...
I'm not sure if its the vendors at amazon or an issue on googles end itself, but I never have issues when I used a credit card with google directly. Only when dealing with their gift cards from here.
Its really annoying to spend on something like this and it only lock up your account balance. Currently, I have a $170 remaining from a $200 card I cant use, and googles support email is never in a hurry. They allowed the first purchase as usual, then locked the remaining balance asking where I got the card as mention, leaving me in said limbo.
I used a diamond club perk to get a 4x point modifier after I redeemed the code as I had a bunch of purchases lined up, and those time gated purchases will be gone (Unless I use a credit card) before I can access my balance, with the added aspect that the benefits of that point modifier will have been wasted. As I know google wont get back to me before it expires...
