- MaryOne of the flavors was spicy but not hot. Very good.Delicious!
- Benjamin RobertsonPretty great and I wish there was more like itIt’s pretty great. It tastes good and it’s super easy to prepare. After I got hit with hard times of an upset stomach, it offered some relief. Its a decent priced source of protein and especially when considering shelf stability and space constraint as factors of cost.
- JenI took a chance…Yeah, so, I’m always looking for convenient, quick vegan protein I can store easily and just have on hand to toss into stuff when I want a protein boost, and I was excited to see these and give them a shot. My biggest problem with them is that I’m just not a huge fan of tempeh, which is obviously NOT the fault of the clearly labeled tempeh-thins. But these definitely did not change my feelings.
I do like and will purchase and enjoy tempeh bacon, cut thin and cooked crispy. These, despite being called “thin” are too thick for my taste, they don’t get crispy and the texture is not good for me, so after the first two I tried, I always cut them up fine and (deliberately over)cooked them to a crispier texture, but I still wasn’t wild about them. I also didn’t really love any of the flavors, largely because to me they were all too mild to disguise that tempeh taste I actively dislike (again, unlike seasoned tempeh bacon, which I’ll use as-is) so I also re-seasoned and sauced them all, which just left me annoyed that they had as much flavoring as they did for me to try to bump up or cover. Finally, you don’t get a lot, each box could easily be half the size it is for the size of shrink-wrapped tempeh that’s inside, about 7 small pieces of each flavor, which worked for me in this case, since I didn’t like them and forced myself to keep trying to do stuff to use them up (sandwich, stir fry, sprinkled on a potato, mixed with mac n”cheese, mixed with veggies and noodles, mixed with veggies and rice) so I wasn’t wasting the money, but if I’d actually liked these I think I would have been disappointed?
If you like tempeh I’d still recommend trying them! I didn’t mind any of the flavors for their own sakes, just that they didn’t cover the tempeh taste the way I wanted them to. Though since I ended up mixing up the flavors, I can’t say which I liked best or didn’t like. I know there was one flavor in particular I *did really like, but it too wasn’t strong enough to cover the tempeh, so I still had to mess with it and I don’t know now which it was. If you, like me, aren’t crazy about tempeh though, I wouldn’t count on these to change your mind and I’d probably suggest you pass. - ShawnSweet and smoky yumSooo, I lightly brushed both sides with avocado oil, airfried on 375 for 6 minutes, toasted bread with plant butter, added primal kitchen garlic aioli sauce on both sides, shredded lettuce and tomato and yum. Haven't tried the other flavors, therefore not 5 stars just yet. It was slightly spicey but again, yum. Two pieces were enough for one sandwich, so a packet would make 3 sandwiches. Great value for price.
- Miles Brown JrTasty and ConvenientThe tempeh is easy to cook (really you just heat it up) and the mild flavor is very good and not excessively spicy (most packaged food is just way too spicy these days, for some reason).
It's a little pricy for the quantity, and the fulfillment was disastrous.
However, I have not been able to find a consistent source of tempeh locally, so this fulfills a need for me by providing a new and different-tasting plant-based protein in a convenient form. - DGI did not likeThe plain soy flavor was great. The others. Nah. Didn’t swallow a single nibble of those. Just preference.
