- AshleyI’m shocked, it actually works.I’m a mom of multiple kids, FT job and just a busy, anxious person. I carry so much tension in my back, shoulders and neck. I get frequent headaches, dizziness and a foggy head. I purchased this out of desperation for relief. The first 3 minutes is pretty horrible, but then it starts to subside. You get the most incredible warm sensation that spreads over your back. I’ve only used it 2 days, and can tell you I almost fell asleep both times. My body feels relaxed to the point I wanted to use my chiropractor cervical adjustment pillow. I usually can only tolerate 2-5 min before I feel nauseous. I had zero discomfort and used it for 10 min. So I used the acupressure pad and pillow for 10 min, removed the pillow and began using my cervical adjustment pillow with the pad for another 10 and experienced zero discomfort. I had no tension around my head as well. Praying that I’ve finally found the missing piece to the puzzle. I offered my mother to try this (she was experiencing lumbar pain) she said her pain eased up and even wants to buy my set. So I’ll be purchasing another set. I may even look for one with a higher intensity. I’m just a normal mom, zero sponsorship.
- TaddPain from spike mats goes away after a minute...along with the back and neck pain!Received this for Christmas. I'm 46 years old, around 180-190 pounds. Generally in pretty decent shape.
I used to work outside on traffic signals but now I spend more time at a desk as a sales rep.
I have a lot tight muscles in my back and neck, and there's almost always at least a dull ache back there.
Since day 1 I've lain on the mat without a short...I was certain I would be bleeding when I got up but to my surprise, the tiny little spikes never broke the skin anywhere (and still haven't...now I lay on it at least once a day for 40 minutes)
The initial minute or so was VERY uncomfortable, but after that it's almost unnoticeable. Using the pillow took more time and trial and error, but I'm now using it as well daily.
Results: back and neck muscles are definitely not as tight, and I almost fall asleep on the mat.
I 100% recommend this mat and pillow, and have a little faith in your skin...lay on it bare back to get the most out of it.
TLDR: stops hurting after a minute, so those saying otherwise I assume gave up before it stopped.
100% works for loosening up tight back muscles, and it's even worked out a few myofacial trigger points along the way - lalGreat value for the moneyTakes a minute to get used to and i definitely can’t lay on it with bare skin but it’s relaxing and helps with recovery. I wear thinner yoga pants and a similar type shirt. It’s not super fancy but really excellent for the price. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to put my neck/head on the pillow. It is agonizing so fast, I can barely last a minute! I have found that it feels great under my bare feet when I’m sitting though! Lost a star because it’s so easy to stab yourself moving it around.
- dmAfter one year of use, I can say that this helps in many ways!I've had this for about a year now and decided to write a review. I bought a used one on Amazon Resale because it was about $10 cheaper than buying a new one. Although it wasn't sent in the original packaging, the item was almost new, had no stains or defects, and was in good condition. I lead an active life, playing sports and exercising every day, but maybe because now that I'm in my 50s, I often have pain and ailments all over my body. I've been trying out various recovery items and I decided to give this item a try after reading positive reviews. At first, it was too painful to use this on my bare skin, so I had to lie down for about a minute with a thin tank top on. All I felt was pain and didn't feel any comfort first, but after using it 2-3 times a week for a few months, I was able to lie on my bare skin without feeling like I am hurting myself. I continued this for a year and now I feel so good that I fall asleep after about 10 minutes of lying on my bare skin. I can sleep on the mat for about 45 minutes. This is a guaranteed way for me to have a power nap after a vigorous exercise and I feel refreshed when I wake up. Also, it seems to help pain in my back or buttocks when I sleep on it. Every time I use this item. I feel a great sense of refreshment and relaxation that nothing else can provide. It also helps regulate my autonomic nervous system. As for the head pillow, I never used it because it was too stimulating for my head, but recently I tried putting my feet on the pillow while sleeping on the mat and it felt really good! Now I use it only for my feet. I like it because I can massage the acupressure points on my feet which are not usually stimulated because we all wear shoes and socks all day. As for the mat, other than sleeping, my favorite way to use it is to sit on the balance ball as soon as I wake up in the morning and do some pelvic stretches while placing the mat under my feet. This stimulates my foot and wakes me up quickly. My husband likes the mat too, but how he uses is a bit different. He is 190 pounds (almost 100 pounds more than me) so it seems to hurt to lie on it (probably because of his weight?) and he says that lying on his stomach on a regular yoga mat with this mat on top of his back is just right. Either way, we both really like it.
- KelseyLower back reliefHave had this mat for over 5 years and still use it regularly. We don't use the pillow much, but that's a preference thing. Easy to take cover off and wash, have done this multiple times. Good quality and great value. Use mat on bare skin, mostly just for the back. I'd recommend easing into it by wearing a shirt first. It is slightly painful when first laying on mat, but after a few minutes it is relaxing and I can feel muscles contracting and increased blood flow. Definitely helps with tight muscles. Have chronic low back pain and this helps. My kids even use it, as they find it relaxing. I almost always fall asleep while lying on it.
