- ViviSmall but very mighty and usefulThis is a mighty little tool!!! It cleans thoroughly and quickly. It’s efficient and somewhat easy to use (I’m disabled, so it might be operator error). I have an ageing chihuahua who decided this winter was the perfect time to use the living room rug as her personal toilet. This made cleaning that as simple as I could imagine.
It cleans up older stains as well with just a little extra effort. I also used just hot, as I could stand, water once the area turned clear water.
The only cons I have is that the dirty tank fills up fast and if you have more than just a small area it takes a few empties to get it clean. The bottle of concentrate is very small. I’ve already ordered a big bottle and I’ve only used the machine today. It says it’s scented, but I can’t smell it, which is a plus for me, as I can be sensitive to smells. - Rob WCompact Spot Cleaner That Works Surprisingly WellI bought this mainly to tackle dog urine spots on our carpet, and I was honestly impressed with how well it worked. The unit is lightweight and compact, which makes it easy to carry around the house and store when it’s not in use.
Setup was simple, and I appreciated that it came with a small bottle of cleaning solution so I could start using it right away. The hose is long enough to comfortably reach problem areas without dragging the whole machine around, and the suction is stronger than I expected for a cleaner this size.
What really stood out was how well it handled the stains. I sprayed the area, scrubbed lightly, and the machine pulled the dirty water right back out of the carpet, leaving it only slightly damp. The spots that had been bothering me were gone much faster than I expected.

It took a lot of elbow grease, and I wasn't always able to get it all clean the first time. I purchased this carpet cleaning machine, hoping for a better way.
TLDR: The Dirt Devil Portable Spot Cleaner Machine is compact with powerful suction and well thought out design.
First, let me say that this is definitely not a carpet cleaner you're going to want for large areas. It's for cleaning small areas - cat vomit, spilled drinks or food, muddy footprints - and does a great job at it. It's quite compact, with the vacuum hose and power cord wrapping neatly around the unit. The collection reservoir is convenient to remove for cleaning and is designed so that there are few tight spaces to collect dirt. A simple rinse is all it takes. The tank for the carpet cleaner is small, but I find that I'm able to do three or four rounds of cleaning up after kitties before having to refill it.
The suction is surprisingly powerful, so the carpet is left only a little damp after cleaning, and leaves no visible residue. After cleaning up several messes, I've examined the cleaned area with a bright flashlight and have been pleased to see no sign of anything left behind - unlike the washcloth and pump bottle days.
My wife frequently observes that she thought the purchase was a waste of money, when I first ordered the Dirt Devil, but now feels that it was money very well spent. - Allison DelpGreat for keeping things simpleI’ve used this a few times now just for little spots on the furniture/rug. It works well and I don’t have any complaints. The hose cleaning feature is great! Hoses on these little machines get FUNKY and the rinse keeps everything smelling. ESPECIALLY IF YOU INTEND TO CLEAN URINE. The tank does fill up quickly, but all parts on this machine are very easy to handle.
