  • An entertaining and authentic look at the world of F1 racing.
Critics pan this movie for being unrealistic, claiming that a 61 year old Brad Pitt could not race in Formula One. The viewer is required to suspend belief a bit to watch the movie. Honestly, you could make that statement about virtually all adventure movies as the hero overcomes unbeatable odds to triumph in the end.

Brad Pitt plays a 61 year older, called out of retirement to mentor an up and coming Damson Idris. They are driving for a newcomer team, APX GP, which hasn't scored any points in the 2 1/2 years they've been in existence. If they fail to gain a podium in the remaining races, the team will be disbanded.

The movie was filmed over a two year period, during which the FIA allowed the filmmakers to embed themselves at actual F1 races, their pits installed between Ferrari and Mercedes. Virtually all of the drivers and several of the team principals had cameos, including Roscoe Hamilton, Lewis Hamiltons bulldog. Several F1 tracks were used, including Silverstone, Monza, Las Vegas and Abu Dhabi. Several of the teams cooperated providing facilities to be used for filming, including the McLaren Headquarters, which served as the APX GP headquarters, the Mercedes engineering center and simulator and the Williams wind tunnel. Mercedes built the APX GP cars, based on an F2 chassis and engine, but with F1 bodywork. The sponsorship for the cars was authentic with each of the featured "sponsors" actually contributing to the filming of the movie. Talk about product placement.

The filming was as authentic as the filmmakers could make it. Several state of the art cameras were placed on each of the APX GP cars, in addition actual F1 cars were employed as camera cars, virtually reskinned with the APX livery, to capture actual racing action. Several past and present F1 personalities provided technical support, including Romain Grosjean, whose fiery 2020 crash in Dubai served as inspiration for one of the scenes.. Kerry Condon, the race engineer, drew heavily on the experiences of Bernie Collins, a retired F1 engineer and Sky sports commentator.

As a past and current F1 fan, I found the film thoroughly enjoyable, both on the IMAX screen and in blu ray. It was lots of fun to see Brad Pitt and Damson Idris interacting with actual F1 stars and spotting the various drivers and team principals was lots of fun. Extra points for spotting Roscoe Hamilton, who got full billing in the film
  • Supurb 4K movie in 2025
This is a great movie. I don't know much about F1 racing, but this movie gives a lot of info about how it all works and I loved it.
  • I enjoyed this movie the best out of any recent movie I’ve watched.
I loved this movie so much that’s why I bought the blu ray. I think Brad Pitt did an awesome job in this movie and so did the other actors. I bought it juts so I could have the better picture, bc streaming is so grainy. That’s how much I liked this movie. I’ve said it’s as close to a Forrest Gump level movie we could get in this day and age I believe, just bc of the story and the good acting, but that’s just this guys personal opinion. Hope you like it as well.
  • A good watch
This is one of the top racing films. It has some flaws, like some of the reviewers pointed out, but overall it's in my top five. (Grand Prix remains #1.)

    SPOILER ALERT:

There is a lot of male bro-to-bro interaction that doesn't quite work because of a lack of chemistry between the two lead characters. I expected a "Brad gets girl" finish, but that was only a brief encounter. The ending was a disappointment, in my opinion. The racing scenes were primo. The engine sounds make me wonder why anyone would put a radio in a high performance car. The movie is worth the price.
  • A must have for racing fans
If you like racing, it is a must have. The racing scenes are excellent and even more impressive when you realize the actors were actually driving for many parts of it. The "making of" extras were very informative and interesting as well.
  • F1 4K movie review
The F1 movie in 4K was a really good movie plus the video and sound quality was terrific.
Wish the aspect ratio was done in IMAX though.
  • Does not play on Xbox Series X
I waited and waited and waited to get this on Blu Ray for the higher bit rate over streaming. I got Superman 4K Ultra HD the same day and it played in my Xbox Series X beautifully. This disc does not. I’m well aware the BD drive in the Xbox is not state of the art, yet it plays Superman perfectly. Same format. Same disc. I’m assuming the Superman disc had multiple formats/files on it and I got the “regular” 4k version off the Ultra disc. I’m guessing given how high res this movie is, this is an Ultra HD only disc and yet it’s not advertised as that. If there was a compatibility warning I wouldn’t have bought it.
  • Best Sports Movie of all time!
4k Video, ATMOS and Entertainment value is 10+ ... off the charts. Even ATV+ says it's the best sports movie of all time. I've seen this 7 times at IMAX theater and watched it over 20 times at home with 4k streaming and physical copies (I have both steel and slip cover versions). Love this movie!
