- Richard K.Terrific Disaster Flick : Very Entertaining : Surprisingly Good For Fans of This GenreOne of the best disaster movies in years. If you are a dedicated fan of this genre you should absolutely see this. However, If you are any bit overly obsessed, brooding or nitpicking regarding theatrical plot liberties or scientific inaccuracies (for example, clinical management of diabetes) then this may not be for you. What you simply have to do is sit back, grab a bag of popcorn, and enjoy. After all, it is just a movie! The special effects are first rate as is the sound mix. The plot is good with many twists and turns and edge of your seat moments and action galore. Production values are high. Standout actors are Morena as the Mother and Scott Glenn as her Father. Gerrard Butler does a passable job. The Kid's performance is blah. Secondary characters, who the family encounterers on their journey, are generally first rate. It is a shame that, given the restrictions presently, most people will not be able to view this in a large screen cinema with a first class multi-speaker sound system. Fortunately, I had the opportunity to view it in a professional level screening room and the movie experience was very immersive regarding the excellent visuals, sound track and special effects mix. I believe this added a great deal to the experience. In fact, if you are a disaster movie fan and also have a large screen home theatre with a good surround sound system (especially with a subwoofer) the bluray viewing might be the best way to go.

- PTerneusExciting and EmersiveMost people looking to purchase this movie have probably already seen it and are looking to add to their physical media collection. With this in mind my review will be limited to the quality of the picture and sound.
I was initially hesitant to purchase the Blu-ray version as I've been waiting for the 4k HDR release to come down in price.
As the price of this disc is substantially less at the time of my purchase I decided to give it a try.
It should be noted that my review is based upon playback utilizing a Panasonic UB820 4k Blu-ray player, a Yamaha RX A8A AV receiver and a LG C-1 4K OLED TV. Both The player and AV receiver will up convert the HD 1080P video to as close to 4k video as possible. These devices will not however give HDR or Dolby Vision dynamic range when playing Blu-ray's. To get playback with that level of dynamic range a 4k disc would be needed. It should be noted that your individual audio and video playback will vary greatly depending on the components in your personal home theater equipment.
Picture:
The sharpness, clarity and dynamic range of this disc were among the best of any non 4K Blu-ray disc I've ever watched. This movie relies heavily on CGI effects but at no point did the disc have trouble with shadow detail or motion blur. Although not quite as good as the best 4k HDR transfers I own, it was as close as you can get from a non 4K disc.
All the special effects were realistic and never appeared blurry or fake. Honestly the realism of the video effects were among the best of any movie I've seen and did not suffer at all by not being played in 4k.
Audio:
Audio in my opinion is at least as important as video reproduction to achieve an emersive movie experience.
The audio playback was reviewed on a 7.2.4 speaker system. This disc contains a DTS HD 7.1
audio track which does not have any sound originally recorded for height channel speakers. The AV receiver this audio review is based on is capable of up converting this audio track to DTS NEURAL X through onboard digital processing. This is the playback mode I utilized.
Can I just say WOW, The Audio playback quality of this disc was exceptional! Dialogue was always clear and easily understood throughout the entire movie, even when heard through my aging ears. That is quite an achievement when watching an effects heavy movie.
Possibly one of the best effects was near the beginning of the movie when a meteor or comet fragment impacts in Florida. Sitting in my living room/home theater this scene reproduced a sonic experience which I cannot imagine being anymore realistic. It literally was as if I was sitting in the living room with the families as the shock wave hit including gut pounding base and effects which traveled from front to rear. There were several events throughout the movie which included fragments entering the atmosphere and impacting the earth. These effects did a pretty good job reprocessing what an event like this might sound like. Although a movie originally recorded for Dolby Atmos or DTS NEURAL X with true object based audio "might" have been even better I definitely felt that the audio playback of this Blu-ray disc was extremely good! As this movie was not originally recorded with an object based surround track I do not believe that the 4K version of this movie would have a better soundtrack than this Blu-ray.
There are many 4k movies I own which were originally recorded for Dolby Atmos object based sound and do not contain sound effects as good as this movie.
Very well done and I look forward to the sequel. - Ted JohnsonDVD or bluerayGood movie......
We need a Greenland 2 - tanpanAlthough atypical, still AWESOME apocalyptic thriller!Although it's hard to do anything new with the genre of "apocalyptic end of the world" themed narratives in cinema...i found this to be a unique and thoroughly enjoyable thriller. Comets pummeling the earth resulting in inpending mass extinctions, force the main protagonists to endure various tension filled obstacles during a mad race to a protective bunker. Also, excellent examination of what defines privilege and importance in the hierarchy of human society. Your job skills, your money, your physical health, your general ranking in society are all factors that the government uses to determine who is worthy (and valuable) enough among the populace to be saved, and in turn, allowed safe passage to the protective bunkers as deadly meteorites rain down, destroying the landscape. Great dramatic examination of how humanity can turn savagely on each other when faced with apocalyptic tragedy--but you also will see the optimism and positive spirit of humanity as they fight to survive.

- Mike in ElmhurstA Very Good FilmI am a big "disaster movie" fan so this film, Greenland, was right up my alley. I have seen parts of it on cable, but I never was able to sit through it completely because of scheduling, etc. So, I ordered it on BluRay/DVD. It arrived quickly and the packaging was excellent. The film is very good and suspenseful. The special effects are mostly believable. Gerard Butler is a good actor and he really hits his stride in this film. I am very satisfied with this purchase.
- Christy SMovie itself was disappointingThe dvd arrived on time and in new, good condition. My complaint is about the movie itself. It was very frustrating that they filmed most of the scenes at night and it was so dark we could not see what was happening!!
Sadly disappointed!
