- Chris WolfeIt was an awesome movie, and good time was had by all! Check it out.First off, some info -
It was a little disconcerting for the first five minutes or so because there were no subtitles when the Predators were talking and arguing with one another (in their own language).
Do NOT let that put you off the movie.
1) You can figure out what's being said, just watch the screen.
2) Once the fight is over, it changes (I can't tell you why without causing a "spoiler" issue).
So, not to worry. You WILL know what's going on in the movie. Honest.
My actual review is -
I LOVED IT! It's exactly what I was hoping it would be and I can't wait for the sequel!
If you like the Predator franchise you're going to like it.
It's a great Predator ride with a very unique, younger, predator. For one, I thought he was rather likeable and, oddly, having a rather "likeable" predator WORKED.
There are some new (and amazing) critters in this movie too. They really added to the storyline.
If you like predator/sci-fi/alien movies, you're going to have a lot of fun watching this one.
An aside: I don't know how the actor managed to convey the vast number of emotions he expressed during the movie, but he did! He's wearing lots of makeup, but you can still see what he's thinking and feeling regardless. I mean, even when he's speaking in his own language without subtitles, you still have a very good idea what he's saying because of how expressive he is with his body movement, hands and face (in particular the eyes).
Speaking of makeup, KUDOS to the makeup department! They outdid themselves on this one! So did the special effects people.
All of the actors were great, and the plot was unique and kept me glued to the screen.
I was at home watching it, but at once point I wanted to go get a coke, but I didn't and I didn't because I didn't want to pause the movie. I was having too much fun.
It was an awesome movie, and in my house, a good time was had by all. - BIG DADDYGreat movie, Worth the money! Its awesome! The best predator movie besides the 1st one of course.
Very fun, only 1 cuss word, and fun with action and some humor.
I ended up buying it and glad I did.
No queer agenda, just fun stuff. My kids loved it. - CaitI dug it.Second favorite Predator movie, next to the first. Coming from a Predator fans perspective. No, this is not the worlds best movie, but it was entertaining, a good plot, fun aliens, and the Predator lore.
- Fryzilla: King of the MonstersPredator 5: The Perks of Being a YautjaflowerFinally, a new Predator movie that isn't a Hulu exclusive. As a fan of the franchise I was hyped to see this movie when I saw the first trailer. So after seeing it for myself I have to say that it's pretty different than the normal Predator film that's come before it, but that's not a bad thing. The acting is good with Elle Fanning doing a nice job playing the two different Weyland-Yutani androids Thia and Tessa, yes the company from the Alien franchise is a part of this movie's universe but I'm not sure if it's set in the AVP continuity, but of course the timelines for these franchises are all over the place. Storywise it's interesting that they made a Predator as the main protagonist, though they did sort of do that before in the first AVP movie, and they finally canonized the species as Yautja. The Predator Dek was a cool character, and they did a good job having him emote despite the limitations of the Predator facial design, but that was mostly done with CGI. Speaking of which I was kinda disappointed that most of the Predators are done using CGI instead of guys in costumes and prosthetics like in previous movies...ok Killer of Killers doesn't count. I did have my reservations at first when Thia was introduced, but she eventually won me over with her chipper attitude. The action is pretty damn good when you're able to see it and it's not too dark or fast paced, and the alien creatures and surroundings are both cool and imaginative. However my main problem with the movie is that, well, it's PG-13...which might not seem much it only means that it doesn't get to be super violent and gory. Sure there is alien gore in it but they get away with it by having the blood be different colors instead of red, not to mention that all of the human characters that get brutally killed in it are all robots so it ok. Also, not to go into full spoilers, but the characters go through all this trouble during the climax to save another character, only for that character to get killed anyway despite being seen earlier that it should be impossible for that character to die. Also also we never get to see what a female Predator looks like...I'm just saying. Overall Predator: Badlands is a pretty good instalment in the franchise. It might not be one of the best, but it's definitely better than that nonsensical piece of ???? by Shane Black.
- John DoeFantastic Predator movie!Fantastic!
I went in with low expectations and this turned out to be one of my favorite movies in the series!
If you are a Predator fan or even an Aliens fan, you owe it to yourself to watch this gem!
It has everything you could want in a blockbuster movie!
Lots of action, different set pieces,
awesome fight choreography, strange alien creatures, a mech, a kaiju, and expanded Yautja lore that respects the lore unlike The Predator (2018). And like every good action movie , an important moral to the story.
Such a great movie! - Jeff & Amanda KingShould a Predator movie be this hilarious??I got such a kick out of this one! Best I've watched and I truly loved the "Prey" movie for what it was. This one though took getting to know the predators (I couldn't spell the name of their people correctly and I'm not going to butcher it here) to a whole new level and that makes me absolutely giddy. Did I enjoy the comic relief that came in? Absolutely! Did I also love the caveman behavior of Dek (our main character)? Yup! Because it seems to slowly adjust through the movie to something more protective, than "must k*ll all the time to prove I am the best of all".
- WrenchGreat watch, worth the purchaseOk, I was skeptical about this until I actually saw it. I’m used to the original predator movie(s). This one, was awesome to watch. Great story line, action and didn’t disappoint one bit. All I can say is, oh oh….mother
