- Sci-fi Lover99Edgar Wright never disappoints!Dare I say the negative reviews didn’t even see the full film? Because it is dark, dystopian, violent and grim (unless you think it’s normal to have people murdered for your entertainment in the most brutal ways). Maybe film literacy is at an all time low and people are not able to follow a complete story from beginning to end without checking their cell phones these days. Because the film is absolutely awesome and yes Stephen King did officially give his approval as being a truer adaptation of his novel than the original 1987 film.
I’m not sure how someone could be a film fan and be bored watching this. If you like sci-fi and action then this is a pretty wild ride that is worth checking out! One of the films in 2025 I felt like I wanted to rewatch immediately after leaving the cinema. Check it out IMO! Well worth a watch or two :) - Eric HardyProgressive Indoctrinationterrible movie, the story is leftist propaganda smothered with DEI, the movie tries to portray 30 days on the run in 90min, just stupid, full of holes in time, days, sequence. Arnold's 2013 movie is much better. don't buy the 2025 version, rent it. At about 30min in ur thinking "not this crap again". At an hour, ur sick and tired of the propaganda and want to turn it off. At 1.5hr into the movie ur thinking "this is really stupid" and scrolling on ur phone. As the credits role, ur thanking God the movie is over and feel contaminated and slimy for the viewing experience.
- Arthur NordgrenEnjoyableI enjoyed this movie
- HT fanaticA decent movie totally ruined by the denouementThe first two acts are very good. Glen Powell is an energetic charismatic lead and he and the production do their best to set up the world and it's actually believable.
*SPOILERS*
But everything is undone at the beginning of the third act where Michael Cera's character (an underground anti-government influencer) purposely pushes the button to call the government goons to get payback for his dead dad. The ICE-esque stooges storm his house, kill his mother, and kill him. That made no sense whatsoever plus the lady that Richards carjacks too quickly and conveniently conspires with him against the Running Man kill team.
Edgar Wright has always been an overrated style over substance director, this is his second big flop in a row but he will likely get yet another chance to lose money for his next project. - TrinityWorth every penny and time to watch multiple times. This was one of the best movies I've seen in a long time I really enjoyed it. We had to make sure we that we could and then watched it multiple times streaming and I'm definitely getting the box set. Glen Powell was great in this all of the acting and action was great. I love the Arnold Schwarzenegger one but I like this even more as it is closer to the book. If you like sci-fi this is perfect.
- J. PayneThe yawning manBefore this movie came out, I remember reading how it met with Stephen King’s approval, but after watching it, I have a hard time believing that. It was said that this was faithful to the book, and while it has some parallels, it’s a far cry from the story that King told, which was a dark, violent, hopeless dystopian thriller. This movie truly bears more resemblance to the Arnold film, which was super corny but at least knew it was corny. The new Running Man thinks it is clever, much the way that an Avengers film thinks it’s clever (not a good thing). Sure, it’s full of action but it’s also full of a ton of eye rolling quips and massive plots holes. I understand why a Hollywood producer would want to change to a happy ending, but the way that it is pulled off here is, simply put, idiotic. I really think that no more movies should be made from Stephen King books because a high percentage of them are just bad. Streaming series are much more successful because they seem to have a longer leash. Recommendations: avoid, even if it’s free.
- G. BucknerNot the same story as the original. Give it a chanceWell I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t read the book but was a major fan or the original so I was hesitant. I stayed away until it popped up on paramount+ and said ok I’ll give it a chance. Honestly it should have been named running man something else to give it a chance. I think many felt like i did. I enjoyed the new different story line. The action and plot was appealing. It kept me entertained. If you like action give it a shot.
- Product Reviewer 04Fantastic Remake! This remake is very different from the original Schwarzenegger classic, but in a good way! The film has a more serious tone and takes on socio-economic issues. If you like fast paced action thrillers or stories of a man just trying to help his family, then you should definitely give it a watch or order it on your physical media format preference.
