Top reviews from the United States

  • can't go wrong, all options are covered & at a good price!
loved this dvd pkg, includes blue ray and standard dvd! and the 4kultra HD, which I look forward to seeing when I get a player that accepts it!
  • A must for movie collection.
    Great movie.
  • OK fun movie with barebones visually-great release
Movie is kind of Escape from New York variation, with more satire and black humor and really expensive looking set design of doomed LA parts (too big budget was one of reasons, why the movie had financially disappointing run in theatres back in 1996). Story is ok and dystopian setting kind of feels like not very far from present USA mood - as it usually is with old dystopian sci-fi movies, they are more scary now when future slowly becomes reality. Picture quality is excellent and only big disappointment with this release is absolute absence of any extras - big shame for John Carpenter movie (especially when you are fan of his audio commentaries with Kurt Russell - this opportunity to record another one was really wasted).
  • price and 4k quality
follow-up to escape from new york excellent action some of the same characters from original great 4k picture Kurt Russell`s character Snake continues his adventure nice restoration if you liked the first one you`ll want to add this to your list thank you good value
  • I'll watch anything with Kurt Russell in it...
John Carpenter's Escape From LA on 4k disk was a no brainer purchase. This was one of those movies where the graphics were so bad, it made the rest of the movie so good. But heck, this was 1996 and graphics technology was still being perfected and there was no AI either. Another reason for making this purchase was, of course, Kurt Russell. Supporting rolls from both Cliff Robertson and Stacey Keach was another plus. Great acting all around and a great entry in the 'Escape From...' series.
  • Yes, it’s in an old SD DVD case. Not only is that acceptable, it’s exceptional.
Other people have complained in reviews about the case not being a Blu-ray/UHD case.

This is not one of those reviews.

    1. It’s obvious in the product image that this edition comes in a Standard Definition DVD case.

    2. This edition does come with the Standard Definition DVD, after all.

    3. If you want a Blu-ray/UHD box, buy the Blu-ray/UHD edition that does not come with the SD DVD.

    4. An SD DVD box for a movie that was released on SD DVD back in 1998 is awesome. I love it. I wish it came with scuffed up Blockbuster stickers.

I mean the movie is camp as anything and lives in the shadow of Escape from New York, but I’m proud to have this edition in my movie collection.
  • Fun movie & for $9.99 it's even better
We all know this isn't Carpenter's best movie, but it's fun (Bruce Campbell is in it!!!). I just wish there was some bonus material, there's nothing except for a trailer I believe. Ugh
  • Action filled apocalyptic sci-fi romp that deserves a place in every collection
While this movie was not the greatest success at the box office, it has gained quite the sci-fi cult following as the sequel to Escape from New York. Carpenter's distinctive style and recognizable score sees Snake Pliskin (Russell) on another mission to escape deportation and earn a pardon by entering the now apocalyptic L.A and retrieving... some McGuffin. That part doesn't matter. What matters is the parade of recognizable icons like Steve Buscemi, Peter Fonda, Bruce Campbell and Pam Grier as Snake makes his violent and explosive way to the finale. Huge fun. Turn your brain off and enjoy.
