- DisappointedBetter than expectedLove these. I bought 4 sets. Super easy to install and they light up bright. Great to have 3 light settings. Good quality too. I wasn’t sure how solar lights would work since the area gets partial sun.
- PhilbertSolar lights have come a long way.I had my doubts about how effective these would be, but have been very satisfied with their performance and durability. This is second set as I have had to replace two that are at least two years old. My first set bought earlier this year are still working great. They charge up and provide light throughout the night. I only use the lowest light setting but I’m happy with the amount of light. I use in a garden and along a walkway that have good sunlight and they work. Two pretty intense hail storms but no noticeable damage to the lights.
- Amazon CustomerFunctional solar lightsI do love those solar lights. They give off enough light for my stairs and chicken coop. They’ve last all summer so they’re pretty durable. Very easy to assemble and the quality is great, as long as you make sure the solar power is free of dirt and debris. I even used these inside when the power went out! They only last half the night but it was good for bedtime routine.
- BSuper bright, beams light high tree branches, fully charge first and 1x yr after thatBright and beautiful.
Lights high up tree branches that the beams of my previous solar lights weren't strong enough to reach.
Tips that I learned from my gardener (#2 is especially important):
1- they come with a partial charge, but before installing and turning on, leave them in full sun for at least a full day or two so the battery can reach full capacity
2- understand that these solar lights work on a balanced supply/demand system. I don't know the ratio between hours of charge compared to hours of use (?1 hr of charge for every hour of use?), but I do know that that at least once a year, I need to turn off all the lights and give them a full couple of days for their batteries to reach back up to full charge capacity. There's no need to pull the lights up out of the ground. Leave the lights where they are and just turn them off using the off button.
Think of it as a bucket full of energy. During the summer, the bucket fills fully because the sun is strong and constant. Days are also longer (more hours to charge) and nights are shorter (fewer hours of use). During these months, the bucket remains full because energy input is greater than output.
Fast forward to winter months when things are just the opposite. The days are shorter and sunlight is not as strong (fewer and less efficient hours of charging). During these months, the nights are also longer meaning the lights trigger on earlier and stay on for more hours too. Everyday, the use demand outweighs the energy replenishment. This higher demand for energy at night being greater that the charge input they receive during the day has a cumulative effect and over time, there just won't be enough energy left in the bucket to satisfy the demand. This is when you'll probably find that your lights are not only dimmer, but they also are not staying illuminated all night long.
Hubby put is succinctly: If you consistently spend more than you make, you'll eventually find your bank account overdrawn.
This is when you need to pause the spending (output) for a few days and turn the lights off. This gives them a few days to let the charge catch up and refill that "bucket of energy".
I'd had my lights for 3 years when I found they were petering out before 10pm. I got crabby thinking I needed to replace them all with new ones. I mentioned this to my gardener and he told me to try turning them off for a few days first. Nothing to lose and it was worth a try before chucking them all out. I'm so glad I did because when I turned them all back on after 3 days, they were noticeably brighter and all still on when I got up the next morning at 5am. - TomBright colorsThese are great solar lights. Very bright colors, easy to change colors, easy to adjust and great price. I will buy more of these
- Kaiser IutaGreat purchase!Work super well and easy to install. Love that the light is adjustable and that they really are bright enough to illuminate. Great purchase!
- MaxieIt all depends on your intended useWould give it 3 stars but because the fixed (non-adjustable) solar panels limits the pitch angle you can set the light and still have the solar panel partially facing the sun during the day to recharge the batteries. Which means you’ll never achieve a full charge which limits the hours the beam will be on.
That said, if your landscape facilitates the light being 10 - 15 feet away from the trees or plants you want to illuminate than it’s a 5 star product because not only is it bright it has a wide beam. If you plan to use it to light up your home or similar areas than it’s a 5 star product. - DeborahBeautiful design!!Bright and beautiful! Well done. I love it!!!
