- J. SchmidtFlawless Performance, Easy Setup, and Outstanding Image QualityThank you, Ring. Installation and setup were incredibly simple; honestly, you don’t even need the instructions!
I’ve seen other brands try similar products, but the simplicity and reliability of Ring continue to stand out. From customizable alerts to advanced motion zoning, they’re truly in a class of their own.
The app is intuitive and user-friendly, playback is seamless, and the image quality looks even sharper than 4K. The rapid alert time with zero lag is simply outstanding.
Highly recommended for anyone wanting a top-tier, worry-free security solution. - D. WindingVery easy to set up, works wellThis unit was a replacement for an old unit. The battery has several months of life before recharging. I put 2 batteries in and recommend it. Sensitivity can be adjusted to suit your preferences. Accurately detects. I like the battery powered unit as I had no electric in this location and I merely installed the mount, downloaded the app, followed the simple instructions and was up and running in 10 minutes. A great device and value in my opinion.
- Michael HimelfarbGreat Security CameraExcellent product, easy to install and provides the needed protection we wanted. The picture quality is excellent and the field of view is greater than needed and the accuracy is better than expected.
- CarlieCamera is okFinally got around to installing this camera.
It is ok for now.
First solar panel didnt appear to be working or charging the battery.
It has two battery compartments.
Switched to the other battery compartment and that seems to be charged by the solar panel.
I guess the other battery compartment is faulty somehow.
UPDATE:
Unfortunately soon after the battery failed again.
Jeff and Jessica from Ring contacted me about the issue I was having.
Seems like the camera battery compartment was faulty.
They said it was under warranty so they sent me a replacement camera. No hassle.
So far, that seems to be holding the charge since being installed.
I have returned the faulty camera to Ring.
Thanks Jeff and Jessica and team!
Customer Ring support is top notch. - Tracey L .Minor flaws, overall happy, long term user. This is probably our seventh camera. We purchased this to replace a six year old camera. If you’re looking for a reliable, easy-to-install outdoor camera that gives you live view, color night footage, and a little extra peace of mind with motion lighting and a siren, this Ring Spotlight Cam Plus is solid. It’s friendly, functional, and doesn’t overpromise. It's a good value for the money, mounts easily and has excellent sound quality. The wifi connectivity can be a little wonky.
You may want to double-check your expectations around durability, we’ve had some models die or just stop connecting even after multiple attempts and outreach to customer service. Additionally, be prepared for a subscription if you want more than just live view and motion alerts. All that being said, we’ve been ring users for over 7 years and we are happy. - MoxieGET IT! Easy & EffectiveI’ll start by saying this is the only home security cam I’ve ever used. But i don’t have any complaints or reasons to try any other brand!
What these cost are extremely reasonable, compared to the quality of the product itself & adding that peace of mind to your life! I own 2 of them, exactly the same version: one over my front door, the other on my back patio. I live in a townhouse (meaning each side of my home shares a wall with the next-door tenants, so there’s no way to have a camera on “the side of the home” but if I did have a side wall facing the outdoor world, I’d have more of these cams!)
Very first time installing the first one, I spent less time than I predicted. You’ll need an electric drill to mount the base plate. They’re more sturdy than they may appear.
Don’t be intimidated by the technology side of things. It’s pretty simple! You’ll need a smartphone & a monthly subscription. There are various versions with certain features. I pay $11/mo. for the basic package, and it’s all I’ve ever needed. Which is well worth it! You will also need a reliable WiFi connection at your home.
On the app, you can adjust how sensitive the motion detection is (as well as many other settings). You can change the lights to be always on or off/ brightness/ motion-activated, etc. keep in mind, all these options do affect battery life. But their charge does last a surprisingly long time! 2-3 weeks at a time, I’ve noticed. It has to have a lithium battery in it (included) to operate; there’s also an option to put 2 in simultaneously, so you don’t have to swap them out as often. Batteries charge by removing it from the camera, bringing inside, plugging into a USB cable + outlet cube. That being said, you’ll want an extra battery, so the camera can stay running while the dying battery charges.
The image is clear enough, I can easily tell at a quick glance if that’s the neighbor’s kid, if that’s my roommate, our usual postal service person, etc. it also has audio recording that’s very clear too. So if you ever needed (God forbid) to report to police someone was threatening you, yelling at you, etc. here’s all your evidence!
Having these 2 cameras truly does bring me comfort, knowing I can be aware what’s happening at home, even while I’m traveling or at work all day. Just the simple fact that the thing lights up very bright during motion, will startle a burglar away. Much recommend!
Side note: if you’re going to install any surveillance within reach of very close neighbors (like me) I think it’s legally required that you make them aware of the possibility they may inadvertently be recorded brief moments here n there. My neighbors didn’t seem to mind. Because if someone broke into their door, they could ask me for the recording. So it can be a win-win, but please let people know. Otherwise that’s kinda like “breeching privacy”. - Justin KassoVery Solid Cam - But Wish the Light Was BrighterI really like this Ring Spotlight Cam Plus. The video is crystal clear, and the night vision works really well, even in low light, I can clearly make out people walking by.
The motion-activated spotlights are a great deterrent, and the built-in siren gives me extra peace of mind.
That said, my only real gripe is that the light could be a little brighter, at times, I feel like it doesn’t fully illuminate certain areas the way I’d like. Still, the motion zones in the app are customizable, so I can tweak what the camera “sees.”
Bottom line: This is a dependable, feature-rich security cam. If you want a battery-powered spotlight camera and don’t mind a light that’s not blinding, it’s definitely worth it.
