About this item
- PREMIUM ICE MELT: Melts to -15°F The faster an ice melter works, the less chance there is for a mishap to occur. That’s why National Blue Ice Melt contains two patented accelerating agents. National Blue Ice Melt has been shown in Strategic Highway Research Program testing, to exceed the melt value of a theoretical 50% calcium chloride blend.
- SIZE: Optimized particle size for controlled spreading, allowing you to melt more with less cost. National Blue Ice Melt also contains anti-caking agents that ensure easy flow for ice melt spreaders and longer storage life. Contains a water soluble non-staining coverage indicator. Making it easier to see when spreading.
- BETTER INGREDIENTS: Magnesium Chloride Free! Commercial strength, professional ice melter down to -15°F. Contains 10% Calcium Chloride.
- ANTI-CAKING: National Blue ice melt contains an anti-caking agent that helps for easy flow for ice melt spreaders and longer storage life
- PET + CONCRETE FRIENDLY: National Blue Ice Melt will not harm concrete and vegetation when used according to label instructions. Ice Melt contains no added magnesium chloride which has been shown in studies to chemically attack concrete. Incorporating liquid anti-icing practices with dry application rates is essential to reducing chloride and salt impacts on the environment. Safe for pets and their paws

- Edward J Gleason SrNeeded merchandiseGreat product, works great, will order again
- Arlene CooperGreat Ice MeltGreat product. Melted ice on our walkway and driveway. Definitely recommend this product.
- CharlesJRWorks well within limits ... impossible top on 50gal bucketSo lets get the first thing out of the way: the 50gal bucket is rediculous with how they designed the top. Its almost impossible to open. It LOOKS like a normal 50gal lid, but what is happening is the center of this entire thing unscrews ... the sides stay in place. Like others here, I hacked, and pulled, and dropped and even thought about using a sawzaw. Complete by accident, I jammed a screwdriver into a chunk of the lid and torqued and the darn thing started to unscrew.
FINALLY, on the second one, I realized there is a white, rubber, "gasket" inside under the lip. You leverage a flat screwdriver in, pull that white cord up, the just "unzip" the cord. It breaks the seal on the lid and the whole thing just unscrews.
I guess in a way it keeps it completely water tight for long term storage. But WOW was that tough to figure out.
As to how the product works, well its tricky. Just got through Winter Storm Blair. I used this to presalt my sidewalks. It appears to be a blend of old style salt melt and the newer white pellets (don't real the chemical). As a pre treat down before the snow, it worked AMAZING. It keeps all the snow on the ground from freezing by holding it above the freeze point even though the ground was very cold and frozen. Even after folks were walking and packing down snow all day, I honestly could have shoveled it right up.
Now, after that? I put some down on the spots with some snow still in place and it barely melted it.
So I went back over with those white pellets and within 15min all the remaining snow and patches were melted and gone.
So we will see tomorrow are a night's freeze. I think the old fashion ice melt crystals will keep the water from freezing, but who knows. - Debby McCreadyWorks greatThis product works great! Came really quickly!
- 429-v8Pet, Environment Safer For UseNational Blue Ice Melt Had Good Reviews, I Wanted Something That Was A little Safer For Pets And The Environment, The Tub Came To My Door Step In A Rough Looking Box, But The PlASTIC Tub Was In Great Shape!, I Have Ordered Salt Melt Before That Was Just In A Bag That Was In A Box That Barely Made It To My Home In One piece!!, I Have Not Tryed This Yet I Am Going To Use Up The Old Calcium Chloride Which Is A 2nd Choice., This Is More Money Than The Other Regular Non Environment Ones But I Feel Better Using This.!!!!!!!
- James R. ByarsThis product will damage mortar in concrete with repeated useThis product will damage concrete and mortar with repeated use. I have used this product yearly for about three years. Usually applying at once or twice a winter. I noticed the mortar in between the bricks on my front doorstep have deteriorated. Also, the concrete in my driveway has become slightly pitted. I am switching to a pure calcium chloride product this year.
