- Bradley HarrelsonHigh-Quality Sand for Naturalistic EnclosuresThis is a great sand option for anyone looking for a substrate that isn’t too fine and has a more natural, grainy texture. The bag size is generous for the price, and it worked perfectly for my blue death feigning beetles. It looks fantastic in their Australian outback-themed enclosure and adds a nice, realistic touch.
It’s also super easy to use you can just pour it directly into your tank without needing to rinse it first. If you want to rinse it to cut down on dust, you can, but just be aware that you might lose a bit of sand in the process. I personally didn’t find rinsing necessary.
Cleaning is simple too. I just spot-clean it every now and then to remove leftover food or waste, and that’s really all it takes to keep it looking good.
Overall, this sand is high-quality, easy to work with, and an excellent value for the amount you get. Highly recommend it for anyone setting up a desert or arid habitat. - Trina GreenGreat look, and bearded dragon loves it.I recently decided to upgrade my bearded dragon's habitat, and let me tell you, introducing him to this new sand substrate has been an absolute game-changer!
First and foremost, the quality of this sand is superb. It's finely ground and sifted, ensuring a soft and comfortable surface for my reptilian friend to roam and bask on. I was initially concerned about the potential for impaction, but after thorough research and testing, I can confidently say that this sand is safe and gentle on my bearded dragon's sensitive belly.
But what truly surprised me is how much my bearded dragon adores this sand! From the moment I introduced it to his enclosure, he immediately began exploring and burrowing with sheer delight. It's heartwarming to see him so content and engaged in his environment, thanks to the naturalistic feel of this sand.
Furthermore, I appreciate the ease of maintenance that this sand offers. It's effortless to spot clean and sift, keeping my bearded dragon's habitat clean and hygienic without any hassle. Plus, the natural color of the sand adds a visually appealing aesthetic to his enclosure, creating a beautiful and serene environment for him to thrive in.
In conclusion, I couldn't be happier with this sand substrate for my bearded dragon. Not only does it provide him with a comfortable and enriching habitat, but it also brings me joy to see him so happy and content. If you're a fellow reptile enthusiast looking to enhance your pet's living space, I highly recommend giving this sand a try. Trust me, your bearded dragon will thank you for it - AlexisGreat for beardies! This is the best substrate for bearded dragons since it comes directly from their natural habitat. My guy loves digging in this, and it’s pretty easy to clean. You need several bags to fill a properly-sized enclosure, but it is so so worth it. You don’t need to bother with mixing multiple substrates like you would with regular sand, so it’s super easy to use and set up. It also holds up well, and you won’t find yourself changing it out completely unless your dragon regularly eliminates in the substrate. Your dragon will be so much better off with this stuff!
- AlexisWorth it for Beardies ????I’ve been a bearded dragon mama for about a month now. I was told to just get that terrarium turf at PSP. It’s messy, it leaves an odor and I really wanted to try something else. A product more realistic for his natural habitat. This sand was perfect, as everyone else pretty much shared it is pricey but I think it’s worth it. Bearded dragons are literally native to Australia ???????? I had no idea. My little guy crawled around was curious at first but he nuzzled up in the sand pretty quickly. It looks great, feels like true sand (assuming it is) and I’m excited for him.
- KatKLOVE THIS STUFF AND SO DO MY LIZARDSOk I know it's pricey.... but it's worth it. My Rankin's Dragons (pygmy bearded dragons) are LOVING digging in this stuff! It's super cool to see them exhibiting natural behaviors in real Australian sand. My favorite thing about this product is that it's actually not that dusty.... which is a HUGE plus in my book, and makes the cost worth it. A lot of the cheaper sand products on the market are SUPER dusty and it's a pain to deal with any of them, which is part of why I tried this. The main reason I spent the money on this is because I try to keep my animals as naturalistic as possible. I couldn't resist giving my Aussie lizards some Aussie substrate. It's heavy stuff of course, but all the sand products are. Lovely reddish color but so far it's not discoloring them like some of the other cheaper, more common reptile sands. I know a lot of people are going to scoff at the price, but hey keeping animals is pricey, and keeping them happy and healthy is worth it!
- Lacey powellMessyNice sand but pretty messy I prefer the mats instead
- KatrinaGood for the beardyWorks well for our lil dude. It doesn't create a ton of dust when you put it in the tank. Good product. Bought more for our other lizard as well.
- EgyptUnsure if it will be heated with a lamp.Perfect for bearded dragon. Nice walking for reptiles when wet it does stick to the scales but dry and eventually falls off not good for reptiles that eat the sand. Easy to clean feces. Love the color for her desert theme tank. With one bag it layered the bottom of the tank, which is a 40 gallon wide. For a thicker layer two or three bags is necessary. Poured in with no dust. Dust free.
