- Jennifer DGood product, useful for conserving storage spaceGood value for price. You get a good amount in one brick when rehydrated. Not the brand but bricks can be kind of messy if you dont just throw it in a container and add water, they are a little dusty. Otherwise, I love these for when I want extra on hand and need to save space.
- Jessica StofkoRemember to wet it ????This is the first time I’ve bought this. I failed to read the part where you must soak it in water and wait for it to expand. So after 3 mins of trying and failing to break it apart by hand ???? it clicked, “hey this might need water”. To my defense I have a sulcata tortoise that usually free roams so I’m not used to buying this but I set her up a little spot for cooler nights here in Florida. Anyways, she seems to like it, she can dig in it and burrow a little. Good stuff I think. And it does go a long way!
- Cesar PerezTop Notch for the priceAmazing two small bricks filled up two 50 gallon tubs my bowser loves it, the smell is not bad it’s actually “natural” smelling, I put it inside a 5 gallon Lowe’s bucket and poured water inside mixing by hand and breaking down by hand until the texture was spot on will definitely be purchasing this again.
Bowser is a 4 month old Sulcata - TimmothyLeopard Gecko LOVES This SubstrateI love this substrate, and so does my leopard gecko! It doesn't have a strong smell, and it's pretty easy to clean up. The bag was bigger than I expected- honestly, I don't know what I was expecting in terms of size, but they give you a lot for what you pay for. It's a great quality substrate, and pairs well with play sand.
MAKE SURE THAT YOU SOAK THE SUBSTRATE IN A BIN WITH WATER FOR A FEW MINUTES. It arrives harder than a brick! Just add water a little at a time to ensure you're using what you need and not wasting substrate. - OrlandoGood quality, tough to break downDecent quality for the price. Although, I soaked the bricks for longer than recommended and they were still very difficult to break down. This is the only brand I’ve had this issue with.
- Jackie CarmelMy turtles are so much happier now!I have 2 red eared sliders and I have them in an enclosure with part water and part dirt. I was struggling to find dirt to put in their enclosure that was safe for them and didn’t have any fertilizer or additives- until I found this! It looks great and they seem to love it- they’re digging in it often! I love the way this is shipped too because it’s compressed so it’s super easy to store. It works perfectly and my turtles and I love it!
- S EvansGreat substrateThis stuff really helps obtain and maintain humidity for my tortoise hatching.
- Shannon LooneyYou get what you pay for -- in a good way!!A friend of ours -- who has raised snakes for quite some time -- recommended this stuff to us. The only thing I underestimated was how much water would stretch this out! So a word to the wise: don't hydrate it all at once!! Especially if you order 2 bricks at a time, like we do XD.
We absolutely love this stuff. We ordered it for a royal ball python and it's PERFECT for them. She loves to burrow and dig around in it. It's also EXTREMELY easy to switch out when it's time to clean the tank. Seems to help with the humidity levels they need, too! (Don't forget the moss, though. It's a combination deal that really maintains it.)
The only thing I'd caution you on is if you ever deal with annoying little mites like we did. They'll use this stuff to hide. (Which, in NO way, is a negative towards them. :) I just wanna stress that!) All we had to do was sub this stuff with some paper towels while we got rid of said mites. As soon as she was clear, we went straight back to this stuff. Very happy royal ball python!
I highly recommend this product, ESPECIALLY if you've got a royal ball python!
