The bones have a firm texture that takes her a while to chew through, which not only keeps her busy but also seems to help clean her teeth. After about a week of giving her one every few days, I noticed her breath smelled fresher, and her gums looked healthier.
From a pet owner’s perspective, I also appreciate that many dental bones are made with natural ingredients and don’t have artificial colors or preservatives. They’re a simple addition to our routine that helps with oral hygiene—especially helpful since brushing her teeth isn’t always easy.

The size is perfect for a large breed — not too small, so it actually lasts a bit longer as a chew. They also have good training value, since my dog gets super excited as soon as he sees the bag.
The eatability is perfect — not too hard, not too soft — and most importantly, my dog absolutely loves them. I give him his Dentastix and leave his room. We don't hear from him again until it is time for him to go out in the morning. And, we have the added benefit of clean teeth!
- SW431Good productMy dog loves these. They are pretty hard, but he is a big dog, so he does fine with them. I have found that his breath overall smells better than it has been smelling. They are a bit pricey, so even though he could use one everyday, I try to stick to just one every other day. He does like all of the flavors, but he is not a picky eater normally, so I’m not surprised. I do feel like his teeth look a little cleaner as well.
- NixonDog Loves Them!I’ve been giving Pedigree Dentastix to my large breed dog (a 60 lb golden doodle) for a few months now, and I’m really pleased with the results so far. He absolutely loves them — it’s the one “treat” that he consistently gets excited for, even more than biscuits or jerky. I give him one a day after dinner, and it’s become part of his routine.
From what I can tell, the Dentastix do a decent job of freshening his breath. It’s not minty-fresh like a human mouth, but definitely an improvement from before. I’ve also noticed that the back teeth, where he chews the most, are looking a little cleaner and have less visible plaque. I wouldn’t expect miracles, but as part of a dental care routine, this is a solid addition.
The sticks are firm enough to provide a bit of chewing resistance but not so hard that he gives up or swallows it whole. They’re the right size for big dogs, and they don’t crumble or make a mess. One box lasts about a month, which is reasonable for the price.
I gave 4 stars instead of 5 only because I’d love to see even more noticeable results on his front teeth, and I wish the breath-freshening effect lasted a bit longer. But overall, this is a great product that does what it promises. My goal was to help my dog keep his teeth clean and I can see his pearly whites and the tartar removed after a couple weeks of use. Appearance is that it seems to work, size is good, great value.
- BrookeGreat treatsGreat treats! I do feel bad that there are negative reviews because of someone's dog having a poor reaction to the treat. It is understandable that dogs have allergies or bad reactions to certain ingredients in any treat (not just these) which sucks. My dog, though, has gotten one of these almost every night for the last 3 years and there has never been an issue. She actually bullies me if I don't give her one after her evening potty time. Her vet has also said her teeth are in great condition even though I don't brush them frequently, so that's why I continue to give them to her so often.
