- Megan Z.My new go-to over the online-only version.I recently put off filing my taxes until the last minute, hoping to snag a better deal on TurboTax ONLINE software.
Unfortunately, there were no deals to be had. I decided to jump on Amazon to see if I could find a better option.
I came across the DOWNLOADED version of TurboTax and was astonished at the price difference between the downloaded version and the online version. The online version would've cost me DOUBLE.
I found this great deal on Amazon. It is sold by Amazon and I didn’t have any delay in accessing my product key. Software was able to be downloaded with ease right from Amazon.
As others have said, you do need an internet connection and a Intuit/TurboTax account. Switching to the desktop software from the online only version was a breeze.
Once signed in, one click imports everything from the online only version into the desktop version. My 2022 returns carried over without issue. If you want to switch back to online only next year you simply upload the .TAX file to the website. Very easy.
The software is very robust and many people overpay. I cannot stress this enough. If you have investments, DO NOT overpay for Premier. Deluxe works just fine and ALL versions have the same forms.
The UI of the software is a bit dated and not near as attractive as their online-only option. However, the program is very robust. You can have the program walk you thru the entire process, just like online.
You can also pull up the actual forms in real time as you are completing your taxes. I loved this option. You do not get that ability with the online only version.
They cover everything in simple to understand terminology. The program offers plenty of assistance built in to the program. As I said, the Deluxe version worked perfectly, and I have investments. My opinion is many folks fall for the marketing and pay for what they don’t need.
The software was extremely user friendly, and was much more in-depth than the online only versions. The software covers every type of income, investment, deduction, etc. I had no issues with errors or glitches. I always triple check the math before filing and everything was flawless.
If you do purchase the Deluxe w/State, be aware the state portion included only allows you to PRINT and MAIL the return. They do offer the ability to efile the state return. I paid $25 to do so.
Next year, I will certainly be purchasing the DOWNLOADABLE version. The program is much more detailed and in-depth compared to the online versions. Plus, it is over half the cost. It is also great being able to stop and go at your pace.
Downloading and printing the return for your own records is a breeze. You can choose to save just the returns- or the returns with all the worksheets. I always download both. You can print and export it all into a PDF with a single click. Flawless user experience.
If you are a TurboTax fan, I’d strongly suggest the downloaded version. You get much more for the money compared to their online offerings. - Jersey JoeEasy peasy.I have been using TurboTax religiously for at least 15 years now I have never had a problem and I have never been audited. They ask you many questions and take you right through it. Anyone can do this, great product. Why pay an accountant when you can do it yourself?
