- StarboardForwardH&R Block Delux + State Makes Filing Taxes EasyI have been using H&R Block digital software for several years now, and prefer it, even though some years I was eligible to use free tax software offered through the IRS. The H&R Block software was very easy to download straight from Amazon. Though H&R Block sent coupons off their product to download directly from them, the software was less expensive from Amazon even with considering H&R Block's discounts. Since I used H&R Block tax software last year, the system pulled in last year's data to make completing my current tax forms easier. This is a huge benefit. The software engaged me into a very realistic and comprehensive interview. It intuitively raised issues based on the documents I loaded this year and from data involving last year's filing status and circumstances. The software provides easily understood explanations for items I was unfamiliar with. One thing I love about this H&R Block Delux + State software is how it carries forward my capital gains loss each year on my state return. The software is very thorough and guarantees the maximum refund. It provides a good amount of feedback as you move along in the process, and even identifies your risk of being audited. This software allowed me to file the federal return electronically. Although it completed both the federal and state returns, I had to pay $21.05 extra to file the state return electronically. I could have just mailed the state return to the IRS manually, however, there is an obvious advantage to filing both returns together electronically. The H&R Block software made filing both returns very easy, and even paying the extra fee was performed seamlessly. The software provides worksheets and a lot of documentation along with the federal and state tax forms and required schedules and accompanying forms. In addition, it provides proof of tax form submissions, and alerts you to when the federal and state returns were received by both governments. Both my federal and state returns were received several hours later on the same day I transmitted them. In the past, using H&R Block software, I received my tax refunds in as little as a week. Last year, I was audited, so I did not receive my entire refund until about four months later. This year, they are estimating my refunds should arrive direct deposited within 21 days. I did not require technical support this year, but have used it in prior years, and it was great, though you had to wait on hold for awhile. The same is true for dealing with the IRS. H&R Block software offers the peace of mind knowing they will always accompany you on an in-person audit. An H&R Block tax agent accompanies you and controls the audit process with both federal and state revenue agents. I paid a little less than $60 total to complete both federal and state returns and file both electronically. The last time I hired an agent to complete my taxes in person was probably 20 years ago, and they charged well over $200 dollars. This software enables yu to complete your returns in the privacy and convenience of your home, and enables your tax refunds to drop fairly quickly into your bank account. I highly recommend the digital H&R Block Delux + State tax software obtained through Amazon.

We’ve been using this tax software since forever. We use up 3 or 4 out of the 5 free federal file licenses every year and we always file the state together even though there is a cost of $19.95 to do that with this version. It's worth the peace of mind.
NOTE: This version comes with 5 free licenses to e-file your federal tax only, State tax return e-file requires additional payment ($19.95 at this writing). However, it comes with ONE (1) license to DOWNLOAD one (1) state program, not to E-FILE the state tax return. As per description:

One state program download included - a 39.95 dollars value (state e-file available for 19.95 dollars)
Therefore, if you want to file two state returns, you will get ONE free state download but will have to pay $39.95 for the second state program download and another $19.95 to e-file your second state return also.
What I like the most is that the software can pull up our previous year’s return and we only have to verify the info and enter new ones. It will also pull in our W-2 info automatically, if available online. We’ve used it for all sorts of tax cases and it’s always been very reliable. It was easy to input the 1099-NEC Vine tax info and it went right into the hobby “income” (Viners don’t get paid but do pay taxes on the estimated tax value of all items reviewed) as per Amazon. At the end, it said everything was copacetic and guaranteed that no audit will be done. I tried playing around with different filing statuses for different people and it always kept the rolling refund/owe amount accurately. However, it might remember the previously inputted info which can be a hassle to find and undo completely. Overall, this is a really nice software to use for tax filing and I rarely have any major issues with it. It’s pretty straightforward and easy to understand. The program leads you through the entire process from start to end and all you really need is to have all your paperwork or info on hand. It will do all the necessary updates and notify you of return status, etc. I would recommend it and I’d give it a 4.5/5.0 - 05/03/2023.
