- SoggyNachoDo not use MS Edge for Download - No Link Provided, No Customer Support Option w/EdgeUPDATE: I was extremely unhappy about the inability to download, and I found a way (after much wasted time searching for support on this order) to get a chat session going with Amazon. Three associates later, the last customer service rep provided a link to download the order. Stunned - it was there, when it clearly was not before. After I cooled off, I decided to take another look at my account. Keeping in mind I just bought a Windows laptop loaded with MicroSoft's Edge as the default browser, I navigated to my Chromebook and visited the "my order" page again, but with Chrome. OMG, the link was there for Downloading. Actually, the link to View Item is in my order details also. I'm only sorry that the chat ended without me discovering this nuance. I went back to my Windows laptop and successfully downloaded it using the link Chat provided to me in our session, updated the TurboTax software and entered my license number. WOW - who knew?!?!? I decided not to delete the below rage-infused review, just to show how ticked off I was looking for my download. ALL IS WELL AND GOOD - PHEW! ADVICE: DO NOT USE MICROSOFT EDGE for the download.

As others have said, this is a bait and switch. The instructions state to go to your orders and you would be able to access the software download there. Folks, there is NO where to get the link to download the install file. I am angry trying to locate a contact for Customer Service, but of course, there is NONE for TurboTax downloads. Until they resolve this, I'll have to cancel it via my credit card instead. BUYER BEWARE. - JohnDSimple Process -- No Download or Access ProblemsNOTE: For those of you who don't file a state return, there is an option on the order page where you can select the option DELUXE Federal Only which will save a few $$.
Just wanted to reassure people that the download and activation process went smoothly for me. Here are the instructions (from Amazon) that I followed:
Step 1: Click ‘Access Your Content’ and click ‘View Your Item’ OR navigate to the Amazon ‘Your Orders’ page while logged into your Amazon account, find your TurboTax order and click “View Order Details and then click ‘View Your Item’
Step 2: Download and save the TurboTax installation file.
Step 3: Open the saved TurboTax installation file that is appropriate for your PC or MAC and follow the prompts to install. In order to complete the installation and activation process you will be asked to enter a license number which you can find in your Amazon order confirmation email or under the same ‘View Your Item’ steps above. - EddieGreat product but Amazon could make the download process clearer...I've used Turbo Tax for many years and just downloaded the Turbo Tax Deluxe 2022 federal only version. I'm confident it will serve be well once again.
However, I struggled to figure out how to download it this year. This is more of an Amazon issue rather than Turbo Tax. Here are the actual instructions you need to know:
Step 1: Click ‘Access Your Content’ and click ‘View Your Item’ OR navigate to the Amazon ‘Your Orders’ page while logged into your Amazon account, find your TurboTax order and click “View Order Details and then click ‘View Your Item’

The problem is you won't see these instructions until you click on "View Your Item" which is in step 1. These steps need to be displayed in the Your Orders view OR there should be another button presented in the Your Orders view that says "Click Here for Download Instructions". - JMark235Excellent tax prep software. Installation of downloaded software might be a challengeI have used TurboTax (TT) software to do my taxes for over 2 decades and have always found the software to be reliable and easy to use and the preparation of my tax documents to be accurate. I have also used TT to do the taxes for my parents and wife and have never had the IRS challenge any of the 50+ tax returns that I have filed using TT.
TT is very easy to use even for people who have never prepared and filed taxes. TT will guide you through each tax category (W2 wage income, interest, deductions, etc.) asking you very simple questions with information buttons everywhere to explain what is meant by a term such as W2.
TT will also download tax data from your financial institutions such as banks and brokerages at which you have an on-line account and put each piece of data in the correct place on your tax return. You don't need to know the difference between short and long term capital gains, qualified and unqualified dividends, etc. You should be aware that TT only allows you to electronically download tax info for the current tax year. If you filed for an extension and want to use TT to prepare a return for an earlier year then you need to enter it manually. As an example, in 3/2023 I can download 2022 data from by brokerage for tax year 2022 but not for earlier years.
With TT you can electronically file up to 5 tax returns with the IRS which saves you postage and gets your refund in as little as 2 weeks.
You should be aware that TT sells tax prep products for either Federal or Federal + 1 state. The Federal only product is cheaper so if you live in a state that doesn't have state income taxes then be sure to buy the federal only product.
TT sells several versions of their software and they have a free, on-line version for low income people with simple returns. TT makes determining which product you need more difficult than it should be and their product information web pages appear to keep trying to push you to their on-line software. Basically, most people will be able to use their BASIC package but will need to step up to the DELUXE package if you buy and sell stocks and then step up to the PREMIER version if you have business income. Be sure to google TT products to ensure that you are selecting the correct TT product. I am not permitted to put a link here for the TT product selection web page.
TT also sells tax prep software in 2 general flavors which are 1) online or 2) desktop. In their online product you logon to their website and enter and store all of your data there. Nothing is kept on and no software is installed on your PC/table/phone. In the desktop product, software is installed on your PC either with a TT installation disk or downloaded over the internet. Surprisingly the physical installation product that is mailed to you cost the same as the download license.
When selecting the TT product, keep in mind that many newer PCs don't have CD drives so make sure that your PC has a CD drive before ordering this version.
The downloaded product install which is available for both PCs and MACs is more complex than it should be at least on a PC. You might find the following pointers helpful for the download on a PC.
1) After purchasing the download TT product, you will receive several emails from Amazon. 1 of these emails in a section labelled ORDER DETAILS will have your license number (AKA license key) and a link for the download. In some of the other emails there is a button labelled ACCESS YOUR CONTENT but this button didn't work for me and there wasn't an option to get the license key or download the software in the Amazon orders info. Be sure to keep this email in a safe place as you will need the info on it if you ever have to reinstall the software.
2) After the download completes you will find a file with a file type of ZIP in your download directory. A zip file is a container that contains all of the pieces that TT needs to install. This zip file is a self extracting zip file which means that you just double left click to extract all of the pieces.
3) After you extract all of the pieces in the zip file you will see a new sub-directory in your download folder named 'Turbo Tax ...PC-MAC_Download'. Double left click on this sub-directory to open.
4) You will see 2 files. Double click on Mac_TurboTax_Download.dmg to install on a MAC or double left click on Windows_PC_TurboTax_Download.exe to install on a PC.
5) The installation is slow and there is no indication such as a spinning wheel that the installation is in progress. Just be patient for at least 10 minutes. When asked 1 of several questions such as where to install, just accept the defaults.
If you prepare your taxes on your own device, just remember that you will create several files that contain very confidential info such as your social security number and you should take steps to secure this information. - Linda MarshDidn’t work this yearWould not load. Had to return.
