I had bought this for my boyfriend for his birthday. We needed a vacuum sealer for all of the fish and game meat that we both brought home. When weighing options, I wanted something that was sturdy, had exceptional suction to get all of the air out, a strong seal, and something that could do both wet and dry foods. This meets and exceeds all of our expectations. It works well, is quick, and always has a great seal. The machine itself is easy to clean / wipe down and comes with a removable drip tray in case some juices squeak out. It is not the quietest machine, but I don't mind.

Five stars without a doubt. - Reader123Works great, simple and no headache bells and whistlesI had a 15 yr old Food Saver before that went up in smoke due to an electrical issue a few days ago; got it outside quickly. It had many bells and whistles that I paid extra for and were headaches in the end like the auto turn-on when you put in the bag (worked sometimes) as well as a wet sensor that I disabled years ago. This unit is simple, very easy to control the seal and location and a much better price than fancy ones with other features I ended up hating. I got mine today and used it already. It is great, easy to use, works good and a much better price. KISS - Keep it simple S....!

- MikeInVegasKeep it Clean!!!I purchased this about 6 months ago. At first, it was absolutely amazing. I got a case of pecans from a nut farm and a bunch of chicken breasts and thighs and sealed them up and stuck them in my freezer. I was very pleased with the performance.
After a bit, it seemed to stop working. It would still seal the empty bags from the roll of bagging material, and it would try to suck the air out of the filled bag when I tried to seal - it would 'function' but it was no longer sealing bags with food in them. It just kept trying to suck the air out. I thought it was broken and I was angry, but not to the point of trying to return it or get it 'fixed'. I just stuck it back in the cabinet hoping it if sat for a while something inside might 'reset'.
I pulled it out a few months later (this week) and tried to use it again. Was getting the same behavior. So I started googling around to see what I could find out. Found other reviews about the same behaviors. Started reading through the manual looking for troubleshooting info. Basically it just told me to make sure there's no wrinkles inthe bag, and to make sure it was clean. It looked clean, but I went ahead and wiped it all down, pulled out the gasket and wiped it and flipped it over.
AND IT'S BACK TO WORKING LIKE IT DID WHEN I GOT IT!!! VERY happy that I didn't get rid of it, didn't take it in for someone to work on, and didn't get angry and throw it away. It just needed a little cleaning... LOL! - A. BeeOn the fence? Buy it! This one’s goodLove this machine! I use it regularly to seal up food for freezing. The cutter works great and it seals well. None of my food has been feeezer burnt and I’ve experienced no leaks. It wipes clean easily and the little well at the vacuum seal area comes out for easy disinfection after sealing raw meats. What’s not to love??
- amazonisgreatWorks greatMy FoodSaver of 30+ years finally died and hopefully this one will last a decent amount of time. My prior one you had to hold down for the vacuum to work, didn't have an area to store a roll with a built in cutter, but I didn't find that to be bad but it does make the unit to be deeper thus takes up more room to store--I do like that this one has a removable drip tray which the old one did not have. Many of the other units aren't as wide like my old one which would limit the size of bag you can use and thus the amount of food you can store that bag so this wider one like my old one works best for me but again because it is deeper takes up more room to store. Overall happy with the purchase.
